Shep Rose’s romance with Sienna Evans was a curious case for Southern Charm viewers. Even Shep’s costars, including Austen Kroll, didn’t know what to make of the relationship. It was noticed that Sienna was less enthusiastic than Shep.
Unsurprisingly, the duo called it quits at the end of 2024. But Shep’s friend Austen pondered on the topic. He shared a theory as to why the South Carolina native embarked on such a relationship in the first place.
Austen Kroll thinks Shep Rose romanticized the relationship
Austen appeared on a January 2025 episode of The Chicks in the Office podcast. He opined on the “bizarre” relationship and why Shep chose to try long-distance with the former Miss Bahamas.
“I’m like ‘Shep, you are too much of a horn dog to not be able to see someone — what you are going to see her like once a month and you think you are going to be a good little boy?’” Austen said.
But the Trop Hop Beer founder is convinced that Shep longed for a secure relationship as he had with Taylor Ann Green. And because of that, he wasn’t realistically assessing the situation with Sienna.
“Shep had this relationship with Taylor and I think it was the first time in his life that he really had someone like he loved and cared about. And he had a partner. He messed up. And they broke up. But I think he wanted that since,” Austen explained.
“So I think he found that girl, and he wanted a connection again so bad that he was like ‘Maybe it’s supposed to be with her.’ So he kind of dove into this thing, where it probably should have just been a ‘Hey, like I met this girl on Raya and she flew in, and we had some fun times. And that’s it,’” he continued.
