Abe Lichy is sharing his insight on what to expect for the next season of The Real Housewives of New York. After what was lambasted as a “boring” season, a cast shake-up is certainly expected. And Erin Lichy’s husband can confirm some changes.
Ratings for Season 15 hit an all-time “series low” in November 2024. Hype for the very dramatic finale had viewers turning in to see what really went down between Brynn Whitfield and Ubah Hassan. But that wasn’t enough to save the group. Shed Media recently announced a casting call for Season 16.
Abe Lichy is “curious” where production will “take” RHONY
Abe gave an exclusive interview to Deux Moi blogger, on the podcast DeuxU. When asked to react to the casting call, the professional lawyer admitted that he was not surprised. However, the RHONY ladies were not expecting it at all.
“I think the show needs a shake-up next season,” he said. “Let’s be honest, most of the season was pretty boring. Things only got interesting toward the end.”
Abe thinks that the group is cohesive overall. Perhaps a replacement would be in order though. It’s unclear if viewers agree. There was some backlash regarding Brynn’s actions at the finale and calls to scrap the entire cast.
“The raw materials are there,” he said. “They could bring in some fresh blood, maybe swap out one or two cast members. I’m curious to see where they take it.”
Deux Moi asked if Abe heard that any cast members were quitting. He replied in the affirmative. Indeed, it seems that he was speaking about Rebecca Minkoff. The interview was released on January 30. A few days later, the fashion designer officially left the series.
“There is at least one person I’m fairly certain won’t return,” Abe revealed. “I don’t think I can say the name, but I’d be very surprised if this person came back. And I think there might be another one, maybe two, who also don’t return—probably a mutual decision.”
Perhaps there will be another member who chooses to quit. Or will Bravo executives make that decision?
