Arguably, Season 14 of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has been one of the most trying ones for OG Kyle Richards. Between her sexuality being questioned, loyalties to close friends, and a marriage ending, the former child actor hasn’t had a moment to catch her breath. Fans and costars might have a bit more empathy if Kyle wasn’t also a producer. Up until now, she has been able to pull a few strings in her favor. But this newest season is casting a harsh spotlight on Kyle. And she isn’t doing herself any favors by hiding her head in the sand.
The tides are turning on Kyle Richards
I’ll admit it. I’ve liked watching Kyle over the years. She has never really bothered me as a Beverly Hills housewife. But if you were to ask my friend about her opinion of the mother of four, it is not favorable. Just like many other Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans, my friend finds Kyle’s secretive storylines a bit annoying. And I have to admit I am starting to understand why. While every other Bravoleb is expected to explain themselves to multiple cameras, Kyle often chooses to run away from filming.
Recently, Garcelle Beauvais and Sutton Stracke had opinions on whether Kyle should stay or depart. The Coming to America actress hinted that it might be time for the OG to leave her diamond at the door. While Sutton noted, “I’m not going to bow down at the alter of Kyle Richards.” And they are not alone in their thoughts. Viewers are happy Dorit Kemsley is holding her accountable, the main sentiment is that Kyle is not open and honest. For many, she has become boring to watch and goes around in circles, actively avoiding the truth.
Kyle Richards always has an excuse
Instead of embracing constructive criticism, Kyle has hit back. Hard. She spoke out on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: After Show questioning if Garcelle has ever shared anything about her life. Fans could see through the smoke screen as Kyle noted, “Where are you coming from right now? What are we seeing from your life? What are we actually seeing?” I could argue I’m seeing a lot from Garcelle including her interactions with her son and investing in a beach house.
Kyle didn’t forget about the Georgia peach, adding, “The fact that Sutton is coming in and questioning me when she’s the queen of walking out is kind of funny to me. Sutton, you want to make this about you. You want to have a moment here, fine, have your little moment.” Kyle made sure to point out that Sutton has also stormed off set. She reminded viewers of the Magic Mike Show and her “ugly leather pants” feud. “She loves to have someone go chase her to stay,” Kyle shared. “I don’t know why she takes such an issue with this especially since I’m apologizing.”
Kyle Richards needs to do more showing and less talking
Whenever she is prompted for an answer about why she doesn’t share enough, Kyle always has an answer. She told Bravo cameras, “I have shown my life for 14 years, my relationships with both of my sisters, there’s nothing I’ve said, ‘We can’t show this or talk about this’ in these 14 years. This season I came in with my hands tied behind my back a bit because there was some things that I was asked not to address that affected other people.” Kyle continued, “If it’s just about me, I’m happy to talk about anything in my life. I would love to, actually.”
While most of us can understand the definition of privacy, the word seems to go out the window when you sign a contract for reality TV. Jennifer Tilly noted that Kyle came across as “very guarded,” which seems to match the feelings of fans. The Chucky actress said, “Even before I joined the group, I know Kyle to be the one to open up and share. And listen, she’s been on for 14 seasons. She’s shared a lot of her life, a lot of her life, but if you no longer want to show a certain part, then you gotta leave.” I think it’s time for Kyle to finally make a decision. She either needs to be more transparent with her marriage issues and Morgan Wade, or she needs to hand in her diamond, toot sweet.
