Can you imagine a murder mystery set inside an episode of Real Housewives? We know this sounds like something that could actually happen in a future season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, but for now, it’s fiction. This is the premise of an upcoming movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, and as if that wasn’t enough to get you into the nearest movie theater, we’re now hearing that Ariana Grande has been tapped for a role. This is what dreams are made of, folks.
Could Ariana Grande’s next big role be The Wives?
We first heard about Jennifer’s Housewives-inspired film last summer. At the time, most of the details were still under wraps. The only thing we knew was that Jennifer would be in it and that it was somehow inspired by the iconic Bravo franchise.
Slowly but surely, more details are emerging about this movie. Jennifer is producing it, which is perfect because she’s a Bravoholic like the rest of us. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ariana has also been approached to star in the film. However, since she’s knee-deep in her Oscar campaign for Wicked, she didn’t want to comment too much on her future projects.
“Well, I can neither confirm nor deny, but I’m blushing,” Ariana teased to the outlet when asked about the film.
She continued, “I just think it’s such an important thing to stay connected to that guttural creative thing in my heart and my chest that wants to give itself over to something that screams at me and says, ‘Oh, that’s a really cool challenge.’ I have a thing, and when it goes off, I know.”
The working title for this movie is called The Wives, and it was acquired by Apple Original Films last year. A24 is set to coproduce, so on paper, this all sounds like it has the potential to be iconic. Let’s just hope Ariana feels compelled enough to sign on that dotted line.
