Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules was a legit mess. Scandoval blew up the cast at the end of the previous season. The former friends were splintered, and there was no way forward. Katie Maloney stayed tight with her friend and business partner, Ariana Madix. When word came down that the entire cast was being fired in favor of a full reboot, Katie wasn’t surprised.
Katie Maloney slams Pump Rules co-stars for “trying on a new personality”
Recently, Katie was a guest on the Boyfriend Material podcast. The host, Harry Jowsey, asked Katie if VPR members could control their storylines. “Some people on the show definitely were trying to self-produce a lot. That would be frustrating because why are you acting this way?” Katie commented.
She continued, “You’re just trying to be as authentically yourself as possible when you see somebody else trying on a new personality. People think that they can sway an audience’s opinion.” Katie added, “You are just so f*cked if you think that you can predict what an audience is gonna think or feel.” That is definitely true. And viewers dislike it when cast members aren’t authentic.
“But they would think that and they would just be like, ‘Well, I’m gonna be this [person] this season.’ You want to appeal to people more, but it never works. It blows up in people’s faces every single time,” Katie explained.
Then Katie shared something an unnamed cast member did that rubbed her the wrong way. “There’s one girl that really made a habit of that. We would be filming it. We would be talking about her boyfriend or husband or whatever at the time,” Katie said. “She’s texting him and telling him everything that’s happening, which is fine if that’s normally what you do. That was always frustrating because you’re like, ‘Why would you do that?’” she added.

As for the Pump Rules reboot? Katie didn’t plan on returning for Season 12 anyway. “I had made a decision months ago after this past season. I mean, I just needed to move on with my life,” she stated. “And this is before we knew the show was gonna be put on pause, before any of that.”
Plus, Katie is living her best life. She recently appeared in a Superbowl commercial for Hellman’s mayonnaise. The commercial was filmed at Something About Her, her sandwich shop with Ariana. And she is happily dating her boyfriend, Sleeping with Sirens guitarist Nick Martin.
