90 Day Fiancé Season 11 is finally here. This new season delivers our first throuple, consisting of Amani Jlassi and her husband, Matt Jlassi. Any is their third, but she lives far away in Mexico, making filming logistically strained. Despite the miles, their love story lives on (for now).
But if you ask them how their relationship survives, they will tell you their romance is like a twosome. It takes work, they explained in the first episode of Season 11, like all love stories do.
Throuples share similarities with couples, Amani Jlassi explains
During Episode 1, we met Matt and Amani, who hope to bring their girlfriend Any from Mexico to the United States. Since Any cannot be with them physically, they FaceTime her for a role-playing session instead. Amani appears in their call wearing a sexy nurse’s outfit, while Matt dons an open shirt and a stethoscope. Any answers, immediately panting, “I’m hot!” as her partners start turning things up on their call.
Matt then tells Amani that their patient has arrived. Then, they take to their confessionals, breaking down their newly televised romance for the viewers.
Being in a throuple mirrors monogamy, said Amani, who identifies as bisexual. “You’re dating that person, so you’re emotionally involved, physically involved, mentally involved,” she added, noting that “Nothing is off the table.”
Yet, there remains “a lot of stigma” surrounding polyamorous relationships. “It’s very sexualized,” Amani stressed. Many “people think it’s just a hook-up,” but it is more of “a long-term commitment, just like any other two-person relationship.”
But for this throuple, distance is another factor that comes into play. For Matt and Amani, they cannot “have that physical touch and interaction together, so [they] try to keep it spicy and interesting,” Amani ended. But also, Amani started this, as being in a throuple was her idea from the jump.
Season 11 of 90 Day Fiancé airs every Sunday at 8/7c on TLC.
