Beyonce‘s fans — or Beyhive— may not be happy with her new perfume advertisement as they reacted negatively and dropped critical comments under the Instagram announcement photo amid controversy over high ticket prices. The Grammy winner’s highly anticipated “Cowboy Carter” tour will start at the end of April, with 29 stops in major cities, including London, Los Angeles, and Chicago. The ticket sales went live on Friday, but the high prices caused a stir among fans and failed to meet their expectations. A few days later, the ad for her new perfume dropped, but it sparked another major online debate about the product’s price.
Fans joke they are ‘broke’ after Beyonce announces perfume launch on Instagram
Amid the “Cowboy Carter” tour ticket prices controversy, Beyonce announced a new perfume. The singer launched the product with an Instagram photo that didn’t sit well with fans. In the still, she posed boldly in a golden coquettish outfit and paired it with golden gloves to match the aesthetics of the scent bottle. The portrait showed the acclaimed artist looking down at the bottom, with her platinum blonde hair swaying on one side as she stood in a completely black backdrop. Furthermore, the caption announced the perfume’s name, “CÉ LUMIÈRE.”
Soon after, commenters dropped negative remarks and trolled the singer while joking about being “broke.” The full comment by the commenter stated, “Read the room Beyoncé! We are broke!” Another user wrote how she “may not break our soul but you broke our wallets.” One more individual expressed their love for her before adding that they are “gonna have to Cé No this time,” mocking the scent’s name.
Many more comments noted that they don’t have money, while one quipped that they “ONLY HAVE BLOOD LEFT TO GIVE QUEEN.” Several other people criticized Beyonce for “draining” fans’ pockets and compared it to “the greed they talk about in the Bible” in the new perfume ad. Many even urged her not to “sell us anything else” and called her out for robbing them.
These negative reactions came after her “Cowboy Carter” tour ticket prices controversy due to a lack of “dynamic pricing.” The Desert Sun reported that Ticketmaster announced that prices for VIP packages range from $732 to $2,958 with options for lower prices available.
