The Season 9 Real Housewives of Potomac reunion was missing a key player. The Grande Dame, Karen Huger, was not in attendance because she was in rehab. However, she did leave a video message for the ladies, where she singled out Gizelle Bryant, Keiarna Stewart, and Andy Cohen for their support.
The RHOP cast had some questions about the timing of Karen’s rehab stint
Potomac fans know that Karen refused to take accountability for her DUI, leaving her co-stars frustrated. While Karen felt that she would prevail in her trial, that isn’t what happened. Instead, she was found guilty of driving under the influence, along with four other charges. After all, that bodycam footage of Karen was pretty damning.
Shortly before she was due to return to court, Karen pink-slipped her attorneys. Her sentencing date was pushed back to February 26, 2025. Since Karen was in rehab, her new legal team would have limited access to her.
Well, Karen’s RHOP co-stars had some questions about Karen’s rehab stay during the Season 9 reunion. “It’s kind of interesting that she’s doing it before her sentencing. And I’m wondering, ‘Is she doing it because she feels like she needs help, or is she doing it because she feels it will lighten the blow of the sentence?'” Wendy Osefo remarked.
“Let’s give her grace,” newbie Stacey Rusch said. ‘I’m just happy that she’s in recovery and taking care of herself.” Of course, Wendy wasn’t going to drop the subject. “I get that, but I feel like sometimes what you’re trying to say is by us questioning her as a friend, you’re trying to lessen what we’re saying and that’s not fair. This doesn’t have to be cooker cutter all the time,” Wendy explained. “Because a friendship is also being honest.”
Then Mia Thornton chimed in. “Do I also feel that she’s going to rehab right now because she’s trying to lessen her sentence? Absolutely,” Mia said. “And anybody would,” Gizelle added. Wendy admitted that she would do the same. “I can’t knock the hustle. I would, too,” she said.
Still, Ashley Darby made sure that Karen was there in spirit. She showed off a famed photo of the Grande Dame and put it between herself and Gizelle on the couch. “I had a feeling the Grande Dame would not be present today. She’s here in white,” Ashley stated.
Of course, depending on Karen’s sentence, her future on the show is in doubt. Time will tell if we will see Karen gracing one of the RHOP reunion couches in the future.
