Craig Conover is taking the organic approach to dating. After being in a relationship with Paige DeSorbo for three years, the Southern Charm star is testing the waters as a newly single man. He recently signed up on the exclusive dating app Raya, but now decided to trust the universe instead.
The former Bravolebrity power couple split over the holidays. Paige broke the news on her Giggly Squad podcast saying it was mutual. Meanwhile, Craig has been doing press and contradicting some of her statements on the matter. But pushing all that aside, it seems of late that he’s ready to move forward.
Craig Conover hopes to “meet someone” “in life”
“I will say downloading Raya was my first step into admitting to myself that I was not in a relationship anymore,” Craig told People. “I don’t think a dating app is for me. I think I’m gonna meet someone out in a bar or in life.”
The Sewing Down South founder doesn’t want to waste time. And meeting in person is the surest way to determine if “there’s chemistry.” Craig also feels less “pressure” about a meet cute, rather than communicating online.
“It’s just I want to meet you in person, so tonight would be great if I met someone, or in that kind of scene…” he explained. “I’m sure dating apps are great. Just for me, I feel like I know if I like someone pretty quickly, or if there’s chemistry, and then you can have a drink at the bar and chat.”
Craig added, “You don’t have to ask each other to dinner or something. So for me, I think activity dates or movement is good.”
Craig is keeping a “positive state of mind”
Conover admitted that it’s different jumping back into the dating pool after a long-term relationship.
“I was very fortunate to be in an awesome relationship for three years, and I’m a different person now than I was when I started that,” he shared. “So I’ve never been single as this person, and I’m just trying to take my time and see what that feels like.”
The Southern Charm star is focusing on “a positive state of mind” as he navigates life post-Paige. But he also told the news publication how “scary” it is to be looking for love again.
“I think you just have to keep a positive state of mind and believe in whatever you believe in, you know, the universe or God or whatever it is,” Craig said. “And I’m excited. I mean, I say that with, like, a pained face, but I am. I’m excited to see what the next chapter is.”
Craig hopes to “travel with someone”
When Craig does meet someone special, he hopes to have more down-time and travel. However, he praised Paige for her professional drive in the same statement.
“I just want someone to share life with. It was really awesome dating such a career-driven person — and I love that and I respected my ex so much for that,” he said.
“But no, I think to travel with someone … will be so fun,” Craig added. “And so I don’t really know. I think I’m just gonna find the life that I enjoy living, and then hopefully someone walks into that. And I don’t think you can plan it. That’s the scary part. I don’t think you can plan it. I think you just gotta live.”
The one thing Craig will not compromise on is having children. And he is ready to be more direct on the matter, though he wouldn’t want to “scare” a match by discussing the matter too early.
The Southern Charm star said, “If they don’t want the same things, and if they do want kids, that’s great, but I’d love to travel the world with them for a little bit, and once we do all of the adventures ourselves, bring kids into that later on.”
“So I’m okay having kids later in life now,” Craig said of his updated timeline. “I think I have a lot of steps before that to figure out.”
