RHOBH’s Bozoma Saint John Opens up About Tragic Pregnancy Loss

Bozoma Saint John and her boyfriend, Keely Watson, are exploring the option of having a child together. It’s come up in several conversations and is something that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newbie has been struggling with. And in the most recent episode, she revealed past pregnancy traumas that provide context to her current feelings.

Bozoma and her late husband, Peter Saint John, welcomed their daughter Lael in 2009. But prior to giving birth to Lael, the RHOBH favorite tragically lost a baby in childbirth. She relayed the story to her close cousin during the most recent episode. And the emotions are clearly still with her.

Bozoma Saint John lost her daughter Eve before giving birth to Lael

“The experiences of pregnancy have not been easy for me,” Boz shared in conversation. “I got pregnant unexpectedly with my first daughter, named Eve. Five months into my pregnancy, I discovered that I had early stages of preeclampsia, a disease that creates high blood pressure and starts to attack your pregnancy.”

The marketing executive went into labor at six-and-a-half months pregnant after her blood pressure sky-rocketed. Tragically, Eve did not survive the birth.

“My baby didn’t survive,” Bozoma recalled. “Two months after I lost Eve, I decided that I was meant to be a mother and wanted to have another baby.”

Nowadays, the reality TV star is considering motherhood again. This time with her boyfriend Keely. They decided to consult a fertility doctor, and moving ahead with the relevant testing made the situation all the more real for Boz.

“Because I’m a mature woman, you would assume I have to get checked out to see if I’m still viable to be able to carry a baby and Keeley’s ready,” she explained. “We haven’t met with the fertility doctor yet.”

Boz continued, “This pregnancy journey was in theory and now it’s reality. If I’m gonna get some needles poked into me, that makes it very very real. I was really excited but now I’m nervous. I feel scared. What if we don’t get the results we want?”

Boz feels both “scared to death” and “hopeful”

The RHOBH newbie shared that she finds it all very “scary” because of her past birthing trauma. She experienced “terror” at each medical appointment when she was carrying Lael for fear of any bad news. The pregnancy was a “horrific” ordeal emotionally for Bozoma.

“I would have to squeeze Peter’s hand because, what if?” she recalled. “I am 15 years older than the last [time] I had this issue. And I need some assurances, and I don’t know how to get that.”

Boz goes “right back to those days,” despite also feeling “exciting and hopeful” about her fertility journey with Keely.

“While it’s exciting and hopeful to think about having a baby with Keely, I can’t help but go right back to those days where I was scared to death every single day of my pregnancy,” she concluded.
