On February 18, Shakira took to Instagram to recap her time in Peru, sharing photos from her concert post-hospitalization. The singer had to cancel her performance due to a stomach illness on Sunday. However, on February 17, she announced that the world tour would be resuming, with the pop sensation delivering a spectacular performance on Monday evening.
Shakira thanks ‘Peruvian audience’ in new concert recap photos
Shakira is nothing but grateful for her “Peruvian audience,” as she shared stunning photos from her concert in Peru on Instagram. The singer exclaimed that she received “so much love and care” from her fans and was eternally thankful for them. The Instagram carousel featured sizzling photos of the star, showcasing her in flowy skirts as she flaunted her iconic dance moves.
The post comes soon after Shakira’s hospitalization; she was admitted to the ER over the weekend due to an “abdominal issue.” She canceled her Sunday concert for the same reason, expressing regret over letting down her fans. In a statement, she noted, “I am very sad that I will not be able to take the stage today.”
However, on Monday, the pop sensation announced that she would be resuming her world tour. According to AP News, she mentioned on Instagram Stories that she would be taking the stage that evening. She was scheduled to perform back-to-back in Lima and Peru; however, only the Peru concert took place due to her unexpected health issue. Shakira will continue her world tour as scheduled, performing in Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Argentina throughout February and March.
In her official statement, the singer noted that her team and promoters are already working on a new date. She hopes to make it up to everyone with the rescheduled performance, so fans can look forward to a potential new date being added to her touring schedule.
