Rihanna, who shares her two kids with her longtime partner A$AP Rocky, opened up about mom fashion and how it changed after motherhood. “Everything is so … logical,” she claimed in her Harper’s Bazaar cover star interview. The mom of two then explained her struggles with dressing up, claiming it “is a fight on its own [now]” and that “What makes sense? What’s easy? What’s fast?” are the thoughts that often come to her find while stepping out be it with her family or alone.
The singer continued that she tries not “to overthink all that stuff,” but it “kind of stops you from going out.” She listed things that occupy her mind when it’s time to step out to elaborate on her comment. These include considering how much energy she must “put into getting ready,” doing her makeup, and hair before “going to the closet and figuring out which three things in this entire room make sense together?” Rihanna noted these often make one “go through a fog,” maintaining that “fashion is so much fun” and she misses the fun.
Nevertheless, Rihanna admitted that as a mom of two, she is finally “starting to have fun again,” experimenting with fashion after motherhood. “Now I’m starting to just remember what I loved about it: the juxtaposition, putting the things together that don’t make sense,” she stated. Finally, she elucidated that for her, “fashion has always been driven by my mood,” realizing that her “mood was on mom mode for a minute.”
