The cast of The Real Housewives of Potomac is continuing to weigh in on Karen Huger’s prison sentence. In December 2024, Karen was convicted of driving under the influence. She was also found guilty of several other charges. Now that Karen’s sentence has been handed down, her RHOP co-stars are struggling. And Ashley Darby is revealing her reaction to Karen’s jail sentence.
Ashley Darby was emotional when she learned of Karen’s sentence
Karen was sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended. So, the Grande Dame will spend one year in jail, as well as pay $2,900 in fines. Plus, she cannot drive for one year following her release. Karen also has five years of supervised release and must use an interlock device that prevents drunk driving.
According to US Weekly, Ashley discussed her feelings about Karen during an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show. “I really do encourage everyone to keep Karen in your prayers. I really care about her,” Ashley stated, “and I learned this on the train coming here today.” She added, “I cried like a baby.”
Ashley’s co-star and Karen’s close friend, Gizelle Bryant, also weighed in on Karen’s jail sentence. “I am shook. This just happened today,” Gizelle explained. “I do not have her wigs, I am concerned. In all seriousness, I am concerned for her safety. Karen ain’t cut out for jail.” Gizelle added, “I pray that she’s OK and that the Lord is with her.”
It was Karen’s decision to enter rehab that resulted in her missing the Season 9 RHOP reunion. Of course, the ladies of Potomac made some shady comments about Karen’s timing. “It’s kind of interesting that she’s doing it before her sentencing,” Wendy Osefo said. “And I’m wondering, ‘Is she doing it because she feels like she needs help, or is she doing it because she feels it will lighten the blow of the sentence?’” However, Ashley brought a framed photo of Karen, dressed in white, which she propped up on the reunion sofa.
