Carl Radke is talking teeth. More specifically, his pearly whites. They are often a source of ridicule for the Summer House star since he got them done. It’s been suggested that the Soft Bar + Cafe founder’s veneers are sized a bit too big. And during a recent episode of Summer House, Gabby Prescod made fun of Carl for exactly that.
Gabby was speaking privately to Carl’s ex-fiance, Lindsay Hubbard when she made the dig. The two ladies are very close, and in lieu of the former couple’s break up, Gabby seemingly felt it fair game to criticize Carl’s appearance. And now, the series OG has a response.
Carl Radke is surprised that he is ridiculed for his teeth
Carl exclusively told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast that he is “happy with” the results of his veneers. Moreover, it wasn’t just a choice of vanity to get them done. The Bravolebrity explained how a childhood injury left major dental trauma.
“Dental stuff is hard. I didn’t get my teeth fixed just because I’m on a reality TV show. The teeth that I was born with had been chipped, had been damaged, and then the roots were resorbing — which means they’re dying,” he explained.
Gabby’s comments “disappointed” Carl. He admitted to being self-conscious after his teeth turned more yellow after sustaining sport-related injuries.
“Him and his, like, big-ass teeth and his non-alc Loverboy is contributing nothing to the party,” Gabby said of Carl during Season 9, Episode 2. The Summer House star also took aim at Carl’s dating ability to “pick up girls” as non-existent.
“I’ve been coming out [to the Hamptons and filming Summer House] longer than Gabby’s been friends with Lindsay,” Carl responded during the podcast.
He continued, “I know we all say s—t, trust me, I’ve said stupid things. I’ve said really rude, nasty things about other people. So I think it’s more of a reflection of Gabby than it is of me.”
The side gossip is part of “why people love Summer House,” Carl stated. He doesn’t really “care that much” about the “sh-t talking,” and stated that he “actually really [loves]” Gabby. However, he finds it juvenile.
“Here I am as a 40-year-old man still being made fun of for my teeth,” he concluded.
Carl is “hoping for more” from his costar
However, Carl is hoping the story arc this season redirects a bit. He also suggested that Gabby move on from discussing his sobriety.
“I think the part that is more interesting is she’s talking about me not drinking, not being any fun, but literally Lindsay’s also not drinking,” he said, citing Lindsay’s pregnancy.
“And so it’s interesting, the point [Gabby is trying to make],” Carl continued. “I think she brings a lot to the table. And I’m hoping for more from Gabby, more than her talking about my teeth this season.”
Taking it all in stride, the reality TV star even jokingly apologized for his teeth. Carl addressed his costar directly.
“If they’re too big, I’m sorry Gabby,” the Bravolebrity said. “It’s something that I’m trying to not let bother me. But I was made fun of a fair amount of my teeth and even in the last year, there’s been a lot of commentary about my teeth. But listen, I’m happy with them.”
