Halle Berry reveals sex had become painful due to menopause symptoms

On February 25, Halle Berry got candid about her sex life during her appearance on the “Drew Barrymore Show.” The actor revealed a difficult experience with her partner, Van Hunt. Initially, she was misdiagnosed with Herpes. However, the symptoms were due to menopause. As a result, her physical intimacy with Hunt took a turn for the worse.

Halle Berry opened up about a “tipping point” that led her to take a deep dive into menopause and knowing one’s body. She recalled being 54 and “having the best time” with her now-boyfriend Van Hunt. One morning, they had to drive to the doctor after she had trouble emptying her bladder. Eventually, she got diagnosed with a “really bad case of Herpes,” sparking an intense conversation between the couple.

Eventually, the doctor revealed that it was a misdiagnosis. However, upon asking what the original condition was, the doctor was unable to detect it. This led to Halle Berry conducting her own research. The one that lead her to the conclusion that it was Dry Vagina Syndrome associated with peri-menopause.

Halle Berry went on to reveal that the misdiagnosis played a significant role in her sex life with Hunt. She said, “We struggled with finding a way to have sex again…getting rid of the dryness, making it more enjoyable, because it got pretty rough for a minute.” The Catwoman” star further noted that for the next six to seven months, having sex felt like “razor blades.”

Meanwhile, Halle Berry is doing everything she can to make sure her voice is heard. This includes launching her latest project, Respin. This initiative helps women affected by menopause to find reliable information and resources on taking better care of their bodies.
