JT Thomas is giving off West Wilson vibes. In the sense that JT flirted with Venita Aspen quite a bit while filming, only for his Southern Charm costar to find out that he wasn’t serious about her. And perhaps, as it parallels Ciara Miller’s feelings, Venita felt used for the sake of the hit Bravo TV show.
Venita and JT got very close while filming the earlier episodes of Season 9. The chemistry was there, and Venita admitted to being interested in the Southern Charm newbie. She cooked him a fine dinner of Branzino and vegetables before he finally admitted to seeing someone else. Now, Venita is revealing an interaction that she had with the other woman off-camera.
Venita Aspen had to take a “step back”
“We dated, I guess, for like two months,” Venita told Nick Viall while on his podcast, The Viall Files. “And then the super-teaser drops and this woman decides to annihilate me on social media. That he was dating, that I was unaware of. And basically, like, calls me out on my name. And I was just like, ‘Hey, I don’t what’s going on with this. I need you to put a handle on it.’ And he was like, ‘I can’t do anything about it.'”
“Why couldn’t he do anything about it? Was this woman real?” Nick asked.
Venita confirmed that JT “was in fact dating” the woman who went after her on social media. The Southern Charm star asked JT if he couldn’t manage the situation. He told her, “There’s nothing I can do about this.”
“And I took a step back,” Venita continued. “And me taking a step back lasted about a week. He texted me the night of my best friend’s wedding. I didn’t text back because I was at the wedding. I went to text him back the next day. And before I could even do that, he posted that he was in a relationship with this girls and it’s complicated.”
Ultimately, Venita “found out” about JT’s relationship “when the rest of the world” did.
Nick clarified, “What you’re saying, it sounds like he fake dated you for the show. While also having a quote-unquote real relationship outside of the show. Is that what it felt like to you?”
Venita confirmed her feelings on the matter. She called JT’s actions “kinda like a slap in the face.”
Nick reiterated how “crazy” JT’s response was. Especially considering how this woman called Venita a “rat.”
“He could do something about it. Because she came after you,” he said.
Venita questioned, “You’re not going to defend your best friend against someone who is speaking ill towards them no matter who the other person is? You’re not going to say anything because you don’t have any control over that. You’re not going to do anything about it?”
Venita confirmed that she brought up the issue to JT at the reunion. Perhaps she got some answers at that point.
