Additionally, McRae discussed collaborating with her boyfriend, The Kid Laroi, on one of the album’s tracks.

Tate McRae recently revealed that Jimmy Fallon‘s talk show was her first late-night show. On Tuesday, the singer made her debut on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to discuss her new album, “So Close To What.” The segment was fun for a lot of reasons as the singer talked about some interesting anecdotes from the album-making process. She later took to Instagram on Thursday to share some fun photos from her late-night show debut.
In the first picture, McRae was all smiles as she sat on the famous couch and looked at her audience. She dazzled in a rhinestone dress by Alaïa, pairing it with open-toe heels. In other photos, she shared a warm embrace with Fallon and was also photographed conversing with him during the show.
Tate McRae further shared some behind-the-scenes photos from her late-night talk show debut. She shared the name board outside her dressing room, which read, “Tatiana.” The name is the artist’s onstage alter ego.
Meanwhile, the singer spoke to Fallon about her new album, “So Close To What,” which ranked No. 1 in 33 countries after its release. McRae also achieved the biggest debut for a female artist on Spotify in 2025 with the release. The artist shared how actor Glen Powell connected her with Sydney Sweeney, who ultimately lent her voice to McRae’s song “Miss Possessive.”
Tate McRae called Syndey Sweeney “a legend” for sending 10 versions of “voice memo” three days before the release. The singer further confessed that it was “a little nerve-racking” to collaborate with her boyfriend, The Kid Laroi, on the track “I Know Love.” She also taught Jimmy Fallon the dance moves for her song “It’s ok I’m ok.”
