Karen Huger’s recent DUI sentencing has taken many by surprise, including her Real Housewives of Potomac co-star, Wendy Osefo.
The Grande Dame was sentenced earlier this month after pleading guilty to a DUI charge. She was handed a jail sentence on February 26 following her March 2024 drunken crash and will end up serving one year behind bars. Wendy briefly shared her thoughts on Karen’s stint in the clink and wished her well, despite their recent friction.

Us Weekly caught up with Zen Wen at the 18th annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards yesterday and asked for her thoughts on Karen’s fate.
Dr. Wendy expressed surprise and extended her support to Karen during this messy ordeal. “I was definitely shocked, but I’m just keeping her in my prayers because I’m sure it’s a very difficult time for her.”
Karen’s recent DUI marks her FOURTH such offense over a 17-year period. Her previous DUI convictions occurred between 2006 and 2011. In the latest one, Karen was sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended, and five years of supervised probation. She was also fined $2,900.
Karen has yet to make a detailed public statement about the sentencing but previously addressed the incident, acknowledging her mistake and vowing to learn from it. RHOP fans have taken to social media with mixed reactions—some offering support, while others criticized her actions.
Some of Karen’s other co-stars also shared their reactions. A “shook” Gizelle Bryant joked, “I do not have her wigs. I am concerned.” She continued, “In all seriousness, I am concerned for her safety. Karen ain’t cut out for jail. I pray that she’s OK and that the Lord is with her.”
Ashley Darby shared on The Tamron Hall Show that she “cried like a baby” when she heard the news. “I really do encourage everyone to keep Karen in your prayers.”
Reportedly, Karen already has her eye on making a comeback. She’ll likely have plenty of time in Maryland’s Montgomery County Correctional Facility to think about her wigs, wicks, and future over the next year.
