Big Brother has been on the air for over two decades. While the format is still more or less the same, many fans feel the series entered a new era with the release of Big Brother 16. This new chapter is often referred to as “modern Big Brother.” The last 10 seasons have introduced a number of great players but a few stand out as Big Brother legends.

Here are the best new-era Big Brother players ranked. For this list, we will only be considering BB16-BB26.

5. Chelsie Baham – Big Brother 26

No one was surprised when Chelsie Baham was rewarded with the $750,000 prize in the Big Brother 26 finale. The California native’s game started strong. She found herself in a majority alliance that was controlling the house. Unfortunately, houseguest Tucker Des Lauriers realized her threat level and tried to use her as a backup nominee during his HOH reign. Thankfully, her strong relationships saved her from elimination but she did lose her close ally, Brooklyn Rivera. For a bit, fans thought Chelsie’s game was toast but they shouldn’t have underestimated her. Once she realized she was on the bottom, she got to work and rebuilt her game from the ground up. She formed new alliances, repaired fractured relationships, and once again, became a dominant force in the house.

4. Vanessa Rousso – Big Brother 17

Vanessa Rousso played a cutthroat game on Big Brother 17. She was manipulative, chaotic, and made too many deals to count. Her game wasn’t perfect but it was endlessly entertaining to watch. She dominated the first half of the game but became a target after backstabbing her allies. Fans thought her game was over but she managed to make it to the final three thanks to a whole lot of scheming. She didn’t win BB17, but she’s the most memorable player from the season. Some fans refer to her as Danielle Reyes 2.0 because of her manipulative gameplay style. I see the vision.

3. Tiffany Mitchell – Big Brother 23

Tiffany Mitchell is one of the greatest strategists to come out of the new era of Big Brother. The Single Mom was the brains of The Cookout alliance, devising a masterplan that guaranteed her alliance made it to the final six. The plan worked perfectly and her alliance was able to control the vote week after week. Her brilliance made her too big of a threat and ultimately, cost her the win, but she made an unforgettable impact on the game. She was definitely the standout player from that season.

2. Tyler Crispen – Big Brother 20

Tyler Crispen made it to the final two on Big Brother 20 but was unable to convince the jury. His loss caused quite an uproar among fans who felt he was the deserving winner. Tyler played a fantastic game but he pissed off too many of his fellow houseguests along the way. Despite his faulty jury management, he’s still regarded as one of the best players of all time. Tyler was a dominant social player and a competition threat. He made strategic alliances, crafted blindsides, and scored advantages that helped him get to the end. He may not have walked away a richer man, but he solidified his place as one of the best players of all time.

1. Derrick Levasseur – Big Brother 16

Derrick Levasseur is the first winner of the “new era” and is often regarded as one of the best BB players of all time. If I had to describe his game in one word it would be precision. The Detective didn’t rely on luck to get to the end. Instead, he sandwiched himself in a majority alliance comprised of big personalities who he used to do his bidding. He let them win the competitions and influenced who they nominated from the sidelines. He managed his threat level and got along with everyone in the house. His strategy was so effective that he managed to make it to the end without ever being nominated. A huge achievement in the BB house.

Big Brother is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
