There was drama at Leva Bonaparte’s new bar if recent reviews of Zachary’s Daiquiris are to be believed. Customer reviews for the Southern Charm star’s new establishment, Zachary’s Daiquiris on Yelp indicate an alleged incident of racial targeting in the form of a dress code.
Leva and her husband, Lamar Bonaparte are co-owners of four bars in Charleston, South Carolina. The most famous is Republic Bar & Lounge, which is the setting for the Bravo hit show Southern Hospitality.
Leva Bonaparte’s Zachary’s Daiquiris reviews show anger at the “new” dress code
A thread on Reddit called “Leva/Lamar’s new place Zachary Daiquiris canceled on the first day” exposed what multiple guests had seen go down on the opening night.
“We came as part of the opening night event and were very excited to try this new restaurant/bar out but unfortunately, we will not be returning. After we got our drinks and sat at a table outside, the bouncer came out and stood directly next to a group of Black men and informed the line that there was a now a “new” dress code that prohibited ripped jeans, athletic wear and Jordans which all of the men were wearing,” local guide Joseph Bass wrote.
He continued, “After seeing the outfits that were allowed in previously it was obvious that there was no dress code but this was a move made to prohibit certain groups of people into the restaurant. We confronted the bouncer who made the comment and were told it was a comment from management. Very disappointing.”
A few comments expressed disgust at the policy at Zachary’s Daiquiris. One wrote with incredulity and said, “Dress code for some daiquiris? Definitely targeted towards a certain demographic if you ask me.”
“A ‘new’ dress code prohibiting Jordans? Ew. Classless and distasteful for a business. I never owned a pair but you won’t be getting my money or business,” another commented.
Leva denied the accusations in a public response
Leva has issued a statement on social media. She confirmed the dress code policy, and denied any racial injustice at her establishment, calling the accusation of “racial profiling by a non POC young Tik Toker” dated in “2025.” Further, the Southern Hospitality star revealed her own history with racial discrimination.
“In the past few days, I have been asked to make a statement, apologize, and address outlandish allegations about my business on social media…allegations that are not only entirely false, but extremely harmful and discriminatory,” she wrote.
“I am a person that has experienced racism and acts of discrimination firsthand. This is a real F-K YOU moment. What saddens me the most about seeing these untruthful posts is the irony of it – the deepest and most dangerous form of racism,” Leva continued.
The Bravolebrity challenged “trolls” that “feed into non-factual information for clicks.” Leva bemoaned weaponizing social media posts in this manner.
She concluded, “This is not an apology because we did nothing wrong. We have a dress code and it’s enforced daily AFTER 8PM, like our sister properties.”
