Honestly, I’m not sure why more people don’t understand that it’s called a breakup because the relationship is broken. Yet here I am, watching Carl Radke try to be the cool ex when it comes to his awkward interactions with Lindsay Hubbard. But even the seasoned Watch What Happens Live viewers can smell BS from a mile away.
What happened on WWHL with Carl Radke?
Andy Cohen pulls no punches when it comes to asking some of the most uncomfortable inquiries to his clubhouse guests. Carl was no exception as Andy asked him a barrage of questions, including whether or not he felt that Lindsay was truly over their almost wedding. Carl, who prides himself on being open and honest, said, “I think I maybe misread some of it. What I’m trying to say is I think there’s maybe still some lingering resentments or feelings about how it all unfolded, not that she’s still interested in me, but still has things she has to say regarding me.” The response would be enough to boil anyone’s blood, especially an activated Lindsay.
Carl agreed that he could defend the Hubb House owner’s reaction to his breaking off their engagement on camera. He even agreed with her decision to post her pregnancy announcement as a sponsored ad. Carl joked, “Get your money, but that’s not something I would personally, I don’t know, it’s not for me, but bless your heart. Go get that money.” And we all know what bless your heart really translates to, don’t we?
Carl Radke might not have closure
Recorded footage from Season 8 shows Lindsay predicting that she would be pregnant by the following summer. And while her premonition came true, fans found it odd that Carl was happily talking about it as if they didn’t have history. In fact, Carl was all about flattering his ex. “I can defend that. It’s great. Lindsay’s amazing TV,” he admitted. According to him, their relationship “got better” while filming Season 9. Carl told the host, “I was over it, but it was adjusting to the fact that she really was moved on, and it’s point-blank right in front of me.”
Carl’s interview definitely came off as if he hadn’t emotionally healed from the breakup. The Summer House star reasoned, “It was good healing, and I needed to see that. But a friend of mine called me after he learned she was pregnant. He’s like, ‘Dude, that’s the best closure you can ask for. She’s really moved on, and now it’s your chance to really believe that and go and move on.’ So it was closure, but it was a little interesting at first.” Carl added that he felt pressure to be in the house with his ex.
Lindsay Hubbard was given the ick
He said, “I wanted to say the right thing, and I wanted to, like, deliver the right line. It’s also a lot to take in.” Carl explained, “I had found out the previous day that she was actually pregnant. I pull into the driveway and remember, we owned a car together, and I pull into the driveway in the car service that took me there, and it was our car that we had together. And that was the first thing I see. I’m like, ‘Oh there’s the old car.’ I’m glad I got to talk to her and deliver what I wanted to say, but I was beet red, and honestly, more nervous than I’ve ever been in a long time.”
Lindsay took to social media after the 40-year-old was done walking down memory lane at her expense. The mother of one agreed that their interactions were awkward at first. But like many fans thought it seemed weird that Carl couldn’t get the memo that she had moved on. Lindsay had a new boyfriend, Turner Kufe, and was pregnant with the couple’s first child. Naturally, Lindsay did what she did best – she poked at Carl on Instagram. The Summer House star didn’t like that it felt like Carl was attempting to gain sympathy from viewers. Lindsay wrote in a February 27 post, “I’m so confused. Didn’t this guy break up with me two months before our wedding, and now we’re supposed to feel bad for him because he wasn’t prepared for me to ‘really have moved on’??? Make it make sense.”
The math isn’t mathing on Summer House
Honestly, good for Lindsay. Carl’s comment about getting the car serviced was giving real Scandoval “pen and batteries” vibes, so she dodged a bullet. As for Carl, let’s move things along here when it comes to matters of the heart. You probably didn’t want to be committed to making sandwiches for the rest of your life either.
Summer House is available to stream on Peacock.
