The breakup between Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover is still rocking the Bravospehere. It’s all anyone can talk about, honestly, including Venita Aspen. The Giggly Squad host revealed she was a single lady shortly before the new year. Since then, both Bravolebs have been telling their side of the story. And while it isn’t exactly the messiest breakup in history, I have a feeling it soon will be.
Venita Aspen is choosing sides
While a guest on The Viall Files, Venita opened up about what she thinks is going on with Paige and the Sewing Down South founder. And she definitely delivered a message. It’s become clear to the influencer that Craigy might be “milking” his breakup. And even though Craig did save Venita’s life after a cannonball jump into the pool went wrong, she revealed the duo aren’t best friends. She told the host, “Craig and I aren’t that close.” The Southern Charm star added, “Craig is not really opening up and speaking about [the breakup] to us as a group. But we kind of get anything about the relationship from what we see online.”
However, Venita does think that Craig is heartbroken but isn’t sure he’s as sad as he is making out to be. “I just think that she’s not running around doing all these PR moments about it. She’s just trying to let the situation die, and he’s still doing that,” she explained. “We understand that your heart’s broken, but it almost seems like you’re dragging this out longer than it needs to be.”
Venita Aspen thinks Craig Conover should stand up for his ex
Fans have always questioned how great of a partner Craig truly was. But he is showing his true colors by allowing followers to think that Paige cheated during the course of their relationship. When asked if Craig should have spoken out more, Venita had strong opinions. She said, “Yeah, I think he should, only because he is deeming her to be attacked by not [saying either way].” Speak your truth and let it be known the same way you’re speaking your truth about everything else.” Venita doubled down, noting that if Craig doesn’t know the truth, then he should “stop answering” as if he does.
While I thought her responses were pretty on point, not everyone agreed. Austen Kroll took the comments, defending his friend. The Trop Hop brewer wrote, “Damn. You save a girl from drowning, and this is how she repays you.” Leva Bonaparte, V’s friend, wrote, “Saving lives and adding to the PR roster lol #no.” Meanwhile, Madison LeCroy, who was on better terms with Venita, seemed to side with her ex. The hairdresser wrote, “Some of your best work.” But for a viewer like me, I just enjoyed seeing women supporting women.
Why did Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover end it?
There’s blood in the water when it comes to Paige and Craig’s separation. When Paige first opened up about their separation, she was very demure. Very politely, saying, “Craig and I have decided to no longer be together. I love him.” And “I think he loves me. I think we will remain friends. No one did anything. It wasn’t a bad thing. I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want, and I think that’s extremely powerful to be able to voice how you’re feeling in real-time and what you want for your future.” Even though the sentiment seemed simple enough, that isn’t how it works with reality stars.
Craig opened up about his timeline while on Watch What Happens Live. There, he told viewers, “Paige lied on her podcast and said the break up was mutual. I didn’t tell her what to say. I got a text: ‘I’m announcing it on my podcast. She said it was mutual, which it wasn’t.” But then Summer House premiered and showed that Paige was more than angry about how he was handling the breakup. She even shared that Craig was “dead” to her. I think Venita has a birds-eye view of the whole debacle, so I’m glad she is sticking up for Paige since Craig refuses to utter a single word.
Southern Charm is available to stream on Peacock.
