When it comes to Lala Kent, she is an enigma to me. I appreciated her candor/mean girl mentality on Vanderpump Rules, but at times, she came across as harsh. The mother of two always has an opinion, and sometimes she misses the mark. With VPR now officially in its reboot phase, Lala is trying to figure out her next move. And she might just be eyeing up Season 4 of The Traitors.
Lala Kent has a lot to say about a few Faithfuls
During a recent Amazon Live, Lala decided to drop her two cents in about the current season of The Traitors. The mother of two started nicely by noting, “Dylan’s great. Chrishell got voted off last week. Loved when everyone was so sad that she didn’t come to breakfast and Tom said, ‘Oh, I’m so sad.’” Most viewers would agree with the sentiment that the lead singer was faking his emotions. But then the Lala we all know and some of us love came out. She added, “I love her. I loved all the digs that she would take.”
The former Vanderpump Rules star went on to say, “I loved the personal digs. She did, though I mean, it was almost like he cheated on her. I was like, girl, you gotta let it go. Happened a really long time ago, and also didn’t happen to you.” Lala pointed out to listeners, “I don’t even think you were in the vicinity. Not even a little bit. You were hawking houses on Selling Sunset. If she had been a traitor, Tom Sandoval would have been killed first.” During her rant, I questioned if she really even watched the show or just ran a highlight reel.
The Traitors is superb with perfectly selected cast members
Here’s the issue. Lala’s appraisal of the situation, for the most part, was pretty spot on. For the first half of The Traitors, Tom has been treated as the scourge of the earth. He has kept quiet and tried to sus out a Traitor. However, the tide turned and showed Tom in a positive light. Who knew creepy dolls held that kind of power? And while Chrishell was a tad bit annoying I don’t think she was wrong to dislike Tom and his actions. I just don’t think Lala understands the gameplay.
Think back to watching Jax Taylor on the House of Villains – he was terrible. This was because all he knew was a semi-scripted series about friends. Jax and, in this case, Lala aren’t meant for the competition games. Now, I know I’ll hear arguments about the Real Housewives as competitors, but they are a different breed. The housewives actively deal with critical thinking day in and day out, especially when it comes to mental warfare. Sadly, Vanderpump Rules just doesn’t give that kind of history or briefing to their cast members. I think Tom is the exception to this rule.
Lala Kent couldn’t be a traitor
I know the chances are high that Lala comes after me. But I’ll remind myself that her bark is worse than her bite. After watching Lala for years on Vanderpump Rules, I think she is too unfriendly to go far in the Scottish castle. To be a good Faithful or Traitor, there needs to be trust. And when it comes to Lala, I think she is lacking in that department. Whether it be from her ex or having to do a lot on her own, I don’t see her bonding with the rest of the players and making her way to the end. Alan Cumming would also never tap her shoulder as a Traitor because she would be too obvious. I think she would also make a bad Faithful.
According to Lala, she already has rejected an offer from The Traitors once. But maybe this is a blessing in disguise for the network and viewers. While she claimed she would never say no to the option I think it is for the best if Peacock doesn’t extend another invite. I wish Lala all the best on her future ventures but I just don’t think the Emmy-Award-winning series is for her.
The Traitors is available to stream on Peacock.
