Jax Taylor recently spoke out about his cocaine addiction. A few days later, Brittany Cartwright and Kristen Doute clocked in via Brittany’s podcast to call foul on the words that tumbled out of Jax.
Things are getting messy between Brittany and Jax and also between Jax and himself. Therefore, Alex Baskin, the producer of The Valley, called Jax in to speak about his struggles with coke. As Jax explained, he sought help and is now several months sober from drugs.
Season 2 of The Valley is about to grace our screens, so it makes sense that Alex wanted to host Jax on Bravo’s Hot Mic platform to help this man get ahead of his upcoming storylines. As Jax opened up, Alex listened, inserting prompts as needed. However, Jax got off easy. So now, Brittany and Kristen have a few words to add so that his narratives are (allegedly) complete.

Brittany and Jax share a podcast. Now that they are divorcing, they are hosting their segments separately, with guests dropping in as they see fit. Having also tangled with Jax, Brittany brought Kristen on for a recent episode. But this episode of When Reality Hits appears like Jax possibly omitted a few details from his talk with their producer, Alex.
As Jax stressed, the breakdown of his marriage further fueled his drug patterns. But if you ask Brittany and Kristen, Jax had already reached a point of no return long before Brittany ever walked away. When Jax came down from his coke highs, he behaved horribly, Brittany began. “And now I can openly say, like, why I had to leave in the first place is because, you know, he was just having these horrible comedowns. He was going out more and more after the bar opened.”
According to Brittany, Jax was experiencing horrific drug letdowns “almost four to five times a week.” But his final rage and regret involved Kristen, as after a night out on the town, Jax accused Brittany of gossiping about him to Kristen and her fiancé, Luke Broderick.
Jax “runs into my room at 8 a.m., screaming and just being horrible to me, making up stories about what” Kristen and I “did the night before. So he wakes up” to his made-up “story in his head and says that Luke texted him” everything she allegedly said, Brittany explained. Alas, Luke never texted Jax.
“He came into my room fighting in front of our son. And I said, enough, either you leave or I leave.” Jax refused, so Brittany packed and left with Cruz. She is also “only telling the bare minimum” of this narrative.

According to Jax, his first stay in rehab went well. But when he lost his couth again after his exit, it was because something triggered him. To explain, Jax and Brittany rode together to an appointment, and as they were driving, her phone synched with his car, showing an incoming text from a man.
“I lost it,” Jax shared. “I went crazy in the car, you know, yelling … The worst part is my son was in the backseat. And that’s when I knew. I’m like, ‘Sh*t, I have a problem.”
Brittany, however, claims otherwise. “So we’re in the car. And before anything happens, he’s just coming down on me about the bar opening, being like, it’s his bar, just screaming at me over all kinds of things before any guy ever texted my phone. Before a guy ever texted my phone, he was already at my throat,” Brittany stressed.
Once her phone betrayed her, Jax went in harder. His rants continued at the doctor’s office, only pausing whenever the doctor was in their room. Brittany called an Uber for herself and Cruz, telling Jax not to follow them back to the house. But Jax failed to listen, helping himself into her living room via an unlocked sliding door.
Jax did not have an eye-opening moment in the car, realizing Cruz was hearing his rants. Instead, Jax raged without ceasing, and he only left their house once their nanny got involved, Brittany explained. Likewise, this did not self-drive Jax back to rehab. Instead, Brittany called Alex, Jax’s sister, his publicist, and several others affiliated with filming, urging them to get involved by forcing Jax back into treatment.

Jax claims he checked himself into treatment upon realizing his son overheard his latest rant against Brittany. As Brittany corrected, her phone call was what forced his hand. According to Jax, he is now in weekly therapy while considering outpatient care as well. But as Brittany and Kristen noted, his statement here was also riddled with holes.
“Oh, and another, the bullsh*t about therapy, that he goes once a week, [while] also saying on Alex’s podcast that he should start outpatient. I thought he’d been on outpatient this whole time,” Brittany questioned.
Kristen interjected here, reminding their listeners that outpatient care is therapy. Brittany then revealed that Jax “told me straight up that he’s going into outpatient, that he’s been an outpatient. And then he says, I think I need to go into outpatient. [Jax] contradicts himself over and over and over again. He says that he’s never yelled at me sober, which is also a lie,” Brittany added.
Speaking of lies, Jax “says on the podcast, while I’m talking about this now, is that my wife said that I’m acting like I’m depressed and I need to go [to therapy]. And he’s like, I tried the pills, and they made me, no, he never got that prescription filled. Like, why is he lying? Like, I tried. It sat in my junk drawer forever. And you know that for a fact,” Brittany shared, seeking validation from Kristen, who gave it.
Despite their inability to see things eye-to-eye, Brittany is proud of Jax for taking steps to better his life. As is Kristen. As are we.
