Survivor 48 is back with an epic new cast. Among the castaways this season is David Kinne, on the Civa Tribe. David hasn’t been the most highlighted contestant so far, but his background as a stunt performer has intrigued fans. Here’s everything you need to know about David and his stunt career, as well as whether or not he has a shot at the million.

Who is stunt performer David Kinne from Survivor Season 48?

David is one of eight cast members this season who hails from California. While his hometown is Long Beach, he currently resides in Buena Park. At 39 years old, David is the second oldest member of the Civa Tribe. While he currently works as a stunt performer, he has a variety of other hobbies and interests, which he discussed in his introduction video.

A self-described adrenaline junkie, David has truly done it all. Before becoming a stunt performer, he worked as a whitewater rafting instructor for six summers in Colorado. David also has his commercial pilot license and enjoys activities including rock climbing and scuba diving.

During his intro video, David explained that he feels he has it all. He’s confident in his physical strength as well as his social skills. If there’s one thing we know about David, he’s well-rounded. However, it’s possible that his confidence could potentially come in the way of winning Survivor.

According to his LinkedIn profile, David began his stunt career in December 2016. His first gig was with Feld Entertainment, which is a company that produces live shows. Some of their most notable performances are Disney on Ice, Barnum & Bailey Circus, and Monster Jam.

David then moved across the world to pursue his next stunt job with Universal Studios Japan. According to his LinkedIn, while at Universal Studios, he regularly participated in a variety of stunt shows. Since November 2022, David has worked as a stunt performer for The Walt Disney Company.

After starting at Disney, David also joined Feld Entertainment for a year-long international tour. The journey took David to several exotic locations including Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and The Philippines. Stunt performers aren’t an occupation we see too often on Survivor, so it’s nice to have the career represented this season.

David hasn’t received a ton of screen time, but he does have the potential to go far in the game. Without a doubt, physical challenges are one of David’s strengths. He demonstrated this in the first two episodes, particularly during the second immunity challenge. David’s underwater swimming speed was seriously impressive. Along with Mitch Guerra, he really helped to lead Civa to victory. However, we haven’t seen David do more intellectual-based challenges. Don’t forget, to excel in Survivor challenges you need some serious puzzle skills. Physical strength is important, but it isn’t everything.

On the other hand, David does seem to be doing well in the social aspect of the game. He seems to have an alliance of four locked in with fellow Civa members Kyle Fraser, Kamilla Karthigesu, and Chrissy Sarnowsky. David does seem like an easygoing and likable guy, so he probably wouldn’t struggle socially if he makes the merge. Recent seasons of Survivor have emphasized a strong social game being key to winning.

It’s too early in the game to know much about David’s strategy approaches, so it will be interesting to see once he has to go to tribal. Every great Survivor game has three aspects – physical, social, and strategic. If David wants to have a chance of winning, he will need to play as good of a strategic game as his physical and social ones. While it’s still very early, it is important to note that many players have received considerably more screen time than David. This doesn’t mean he won’t win, but it will be important to see how his edit continues to develop in the upcoming episodes.

Survivor is currently available to stream on Paramount +.
