Reese Witherspoon has taught her kids it is ‘okay to stand out and be different’
Reese Witherspoon recently took to her Instagram Story to recall a dinner with her sons and a friend. The 48-year-old shared a sweet story and couldn’t help but feel proud of her parenting journey. According to PEOPLE, Witherspoon revealed that her friend asked her sons if there was a lesson from their mother that they would “always remember.”
The “Legally Blonde” star recalled that one of her sons, not specifying which one, remembered one particular teaching. He shared that his mom always taught him that if he was given “the choice to be normal or the choice to be weird,” he should always choose “weird.” Moreover, the mom of three would say that it’s “okay to stand out and be different.”
Witherspoon was visibly touched after reminiscing about the dinner incident. She put her hand on her chest and said that it “filled” her heart “with the deepest joy” that her son “learned” this valuable life lesson from her. She added that it “just meant so much” to her that her kids “know it’s okay to be different and that it can actually end up being their superpower.”
Witherspoon also noted that she shared the sweet story after reposting her production company Hello Sunshine’s Instagram post. The carousel featured several motivating quotes from “The White Lotus” star Aimee Lou Wood. It also included a quote from the actor’s interview with The Hollywood Reporter last month. Wood said, “I spent a lot of my life worrying about being weird, and now I’m realizing it could be my superpower.”
Reese Witherspoon echoed the same message and the power of being “weird” in the teachings to her kids.
