Anthony Bird has exited the galley on Below Deck Down Under. In his place is Alesia Harris, his sous-chef replacement for the remainder of Season 3 (hopefully).

Tzarina Mace-Ralph and Alesia are already clicking. Luckily for Tzarina, Alesia presents as a go-with-the-flow type, and her energetic eagerness to assist Tzarina in all areas as needed is refreshing. Hopefully, their compatibility lasts, but as this is reality television, anything can happen.

But who is Alesia? What has she already said and done during her brief appearances on BDDU? And why did Alesia need to come on board to replace Anthony as a sous-chef for this series? We will answer all of these questions for you now.

What happened to sous-chef Anthony Bird on Below Deck Down Under?

At the start of BDDU Season 3, Anthony presented as the first sous-chef in this franchise. He only lasted four episodes. Ship sh*t happens.

As his superior, Tzarina struggled with Anthony in her galley. Their issues stemmed from Anthony wanting to do more in his position. Washing dishes, unpacking provisions, cleaning the galley, and prep work were not his thing. Instead, Anthony desired to be the main chef, noting that he also wanted to work as a team with Tzarina.

Therefore, Tzarina began doling out heftier responsibilities to Anthony, such as when she placed him in charge of cooking their charter guests a picnic lunch for their day on the beach. But even with this, Anthony found faults with Tzarina. Growing weary of being a grunt man in the galley, Anthony rang up one of his connections, procuring himself a gig on another yacht as a sole chef.

When Anthony told Tzarina that he had one more charter left before he needed to bounce for bluer waters, Tzarina called in our beloved boat daddy, Captain Jason Chambers. Captain Jason squashed his plans, telling Anthony to pack his sous-chef knives and leave now. Anthony did as instructed. When BDDU Season 3, Episode 6, aired, we met Alesia, his sous-chef replacement.

Alesia has a solid personality thus far, but her resume is somewhat lacking for her newest position as a Below Deck sous-chef. “I first got into yachting as a deck stew/crew chef,” Alesia explained in one of her first scenes on Bravo. After expressing her love of food, Alesia got real.

Overall, Alesia worries that she might come across as a rookie chef. “I love food. I love the smell, [and] I love the color. But I feel like I’m starting from green,” she admitted.

Prompted by her producers in a confessional, Alesia candidly revealed how she planned on tackling this position. “To be honest, I’m gonna wing it, but that’s my lifestyle,” she shared. Showing humility and humor, Alesia also owned up to not knowing where The Republic of Seychelles, the setting of BDDU Season 3, was located on a map. “I’ve been telling everyone it’s near Jamaica,” she confessed.

Geographical locations aside, Alesia revealed that she loves to cook Thai food. However, she is open to cooking anything Tzarina requests. “I just hope I can make you proud,” she stressed to Tzarina, who appreciated her sincerity.

So far, her hopes are coming true, as Tzarina shared in a confessional that she feels like “a firecracker” has entered her galley. Tzarina loves her “positive energy [and] attitude. I can work with [Alesia],” Tzarina said.

Two men on board would also like to try to work with our nudist colony-raised sous-chef, Alesia. When Wihan Du Toit shook her hand, he grinned, later joking in his confessional that he finds Alesia attractive. But Wihan has already kissed two other females on board while admitting that he holds a burning, unrequited love for a third, so if you ask us, Alesia needs to RUN.

Like Wihan, Johnny Arvanitis also digs Alesia. After telling the cameras that boatmances are not his thing, Johnny went in for the kill with Alesia during her first night on board. While dancing with Alesia at a bar after their charter guests departed, Johnny moved in for a kiss. However, Alesia denied his advances with a simple turn of her head.

“Johnny darling, I’ve literally met you for like five seconds,” Alesia expressed. But Alesia was smiling, noting that her denial was not a no. Instead, Alesia desires to go “slow” where boatmances are concerned.

“Every single time I look into those eyes, I’m like, ah. [Johnny] is a gorgeous man, but I don’t know him,” Alesia admitted in her confessional. “It’s just too much too soon, we’ll see,” she teased.

Good luck, Alesia!
