One of the most important steps in the twelve steps of sobriety requires listing everyone you’ve harmed by your addiction and making amends with them. In his recovery from cocaine addiction, The Valley star Jax Taylor is struggling with at least two of those names.
It’s been almost three years since his falling out with Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark, but Jax is still “scared” to reconnect. Even though he says he’s “tried and tried” to get Stassi and Beau on The Valley, they won’t do it.
“I wish I could weather that freaking storm,” he said on his In The Mind of a Man podcast.
Does Jax Taylor want Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark on The Valley?
The Vanderpump Rules alum told Alex Baskin that the issues with his ex-girlfriend and her husband still bother him. “I tried to reach out,” he explained. “I understand they’re upset with me over this wedding situation.”
In case you’ve forgotten, Jax and Brittany were MIA for Beau and Stassi’s Italian wedding in 2022. Even though Jax and Stassi had multiple messy breakups, they had all become friends. But that ended with the wedding fiasco.
“To our faces, they’re telling us that they’re coming,” Stassi said in May 2022. “But behind our back, [Jax] is texting Beau’s best friend that they’re not. Good friends don’t … talk sh*t about your wedding behind your back … Friends don’t do that to each other.”
“Two weeks before the wedding … I was like, ‘We need to address this with them,'” she continued. “I ordered all the stuff we needed to have in terms of seat assignments and the place cards. That’s done. So I need to know if I need to quickly ask to get things rearranged. Because it’s not just, like, taking out two people.”
Meanwhile, Jax and Brittany had multiple last-minute excuses for not attending. They claimed their then-one-year-old son Cruz didn’t have a passport, and there was a “death in the family.”
But before he could tell Beau that they weren’t coming, Beau’s friend spilled the tea. Apparently, Jax had been texting a group of friends listing all the reasons they weren’t going to the wedding, and one of them was Beau’s bestie. Oops.
“Before I got to tell Beau, his friend Rob told him,” Jax confessed. “[Beau and Stassi] got really upset. We have apologized. We sent them money. It just was really unfortunate how it all turned out. Was it my fault? Yeah, it was.”
Stassi was very hurt that Jax and Brittany were a no-show for her wedding; “can’t trust them anymore”
These days, Jax admits, “I’ve run into Stassi a few times and she’s always like, ‘Hey, I’m so happy for you with the bar.’ She’s always very kind to me. I know she talks to Brittany.”
Jax still can’t bring himself to approach Beau. He sends second-hand messages in lieu of face-to-face meetings. “We have a couple of mutual friends,” he said. “Every time I see them I’m like, ‘Hey, can you tell Beau to call me and tell him I miss him. Tell Beau I want him to come to my bar because he would love my bar.’ And he is my friend.”
Even though he’s not ready to reach out to the casting adviser, he knows he should. “I’m just nervous and I’m scared a little bit,” he admitted. “I just don’t think he wants to see me … And we’re getting older so I’m not scared to say, ‘Hey, I miss the guy.’ So it just sucks.”
For Stassi’s part, while co-hosting The Toast podcast in 2023, she said, “I do miss them at times. They hurt me — they really did … It feels like I can’t trust them anymore.”
“I think what hurts the most is how Jax says, ‘We already went to their first wedding,'” Stassi added. “We didn’t get to have one — we literally just signed papers in Katie [Maloney]’s backyard, during my baby shower with less than 10 people. It wasn’t a wedding.”
Due to Covid restrictions in 2020, Beau and Stassi had to postpone their planned Italian wedding. That’s why their actual big wedding was so important to them in 2022.
