An unverified video is making rounds on social media, fueling rumors about Taylor Swift’s 40-second flight in her private jet. Swift is among many celebrities facing backlash for the usage of their private jets amid the ongoing controversy that began in 2022. A viral study by Yard had found her to be the biggest private jet CO2 emission offender, just ahead of Floyd Mayweather and Jay-Z. On the other hand, the singer’s rep made it clear that they frequently loan her private jet to “other individuals.” However, this new video again intensified these claims.

A viral but unverified video on X (formerly Twitter) showed Taylor Swift‘s rumored 40-second flight on her private jet from Los Angeles to Santa Monica. The short clip showed the plane taking off from the LA airstrip and making the short journey to the neighboring coastal city in California within seconds. Over the years, Swift has been under constant scrutiny for her private jet usage, sparking massive outrage and discussion about celebrities topping the list of CO2 emission offenders.
Commenters, however, shared their own theories pertaining to the unconfirmed jet route video that went viral again. One user explained, “It’s likely a ‘repositioning flight,’ not entirely what you’re suggesting. Very common in private aviation when the planes follow an individual.” However, they noted that it has the “same ‘effect’ on the climate, though!” Another individual seemingly justified the short trip, writing, “If she had concerts to attend, and ground traffic would’ve made her (potentially) late, what’s the problem with this?”
Similar to many other users, one more commenter wrote that there could have been “many plausible and legitimate reasons” for Taylor Swift’s rumored 40-second flight. Another individual pointed out that the aircraft was likely “hangared in a different airport and was called for a flight from a different location.” They claimed such activities often occur in “aviation due to a lack of hangars for different sizes of planes or maintenance services.”
The singer previously faced backlash in 2022 after a Yard study named her as the top CO2 emission offender. Back then, a representative for her told the Los Angeles Times that they loan out her jet “to other individuals” regularly. Additionally, the rep remarked that it was “blatantly incorrect” to “attribute most or all of these trips” to the Grammy winner.
