The couple recently appeared on Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” when they shared more insights from the big day that Blanco, remembering it as the “scariest week of my life,” went down on one knee and popped the question, to which Gomez said, “Yes!” The singer-actor also revealed how she did not see Blanco’s proposal coming.
Benny Blanco recalls ‘freaking out’ over Selena Gomez proposal
Pulling out Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s engagement photo from Instagram, Jimmy Fallon got them to discuss their proposal on his talk show. “What was it like on the day that Benny proposed?” Fallon asked, before clarifying his doubts about who actually proposed. First, the couple confirmed that Blanco popped the question, with Gomez affirming she “could have” proposed too. The latter then revealed that they were working on their new album, “I Said I Love You First,” promo at the time, and she did not see it coming at all.
On the day of the proposal, the Disney alum recalled waking up “confused,” “grumpy,” and “tired” as they had to travel far for the shoot. Meanwhile, Blanco claimed he was “freaking out” because she was “mad” and “almost didn’t come.” He remembered, “She was like, ‘I really don’t feel that well. I think I’m gonna stay home today. Can’t we just make up this shoot another day?'” The record producer explained how the days before the engagement are the toughest and “craziest” because of all the lying prior to asking someone to marry.
Benny Blanco disclosed that Selena Gomez was “upset” with him before the proposal because of all his “bad lies.” Later, he revealed the ring was in a box that he hid in a bag, believing no one would find it. “It was the scariest week of my life,” Blanco stated while Gomez gushed beside him. Despite all the bumps along the journey, Fallon asked the duo if it “went great,” to which Gomez responded, “I freaked out! I forgot everything.” She added that they were not planning their wedding “exactly at this moment” and “wanna make sure that the music’s good.”
