The “Emilia Pérez” star recently made a guest appearance in a new episode of the “On Purpose Podcast” by Jay Shetty, along with her fiancé Benny Blanco. During her conversation with the podcast’s host, Gomez opened up about why she finds it quite difficult to stay completely true to herself all the time.

Selena Gomez recently went candid about the reason behind her struggle to bring forth the truest version of herself on Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose Podcast.” The actor’s fiancé, Benny Blanco, also joined her in the new podcast episode, which premiered on March 24. While talking to the host about the hardships of being true to herself, Gomez explained, “The world has become so hard to please, if you will.” She continued, “I’m called fake, I’m called – it’s insincere, it’s fake, all of this.”

Gomez emphasized how “it just doesn’t feel safe” to put her truest self out there in the world. The artist further shared, “I don’t like being myself sometimes.” According to her, “That’s a bigger problem than just talking about it in a relationship.” The “Only Murders in the Building” actor further expressed, “It makes you feel like you have to question the way you’re acting.”

“I have really bad days and sometimes I don’t have the energy to do what I’m doing,” Selena Gomez continued. Referring to her struggle, the singer added, “I try 99% of the time to be kind and to just be happy and grateful for what I have, and that just almost isn’t cool anymore… I wanna always be the person that I was, but it gets harder and harder.”
