Angelina Jolie bought her NYC apartment during her 20s, and little did she know it would become a hangout spot for her future kids. Beyond all her achievements, Jolie is like any other mom who needs advance notice before dropping by. In her recent interview with The New York Times, she revealed that one of her sons lives in the NYC apartment. Moreover, the other kids come and go as they please, using the apartment as a “crash pad.”

Angelina Jolie reveals her old apartment now serves as a crash pad for her kids

Speaking to The New York Times, Angelina Jolie revealed how her NYC apartment was a “crash pad” for her kids. Currently living in Los Angeles, Jolie is busy building Atelier Jolie, among other projects. However, one of her sons now occupies the NYC apartment while the other kids use it for unwinding. But that doesn’t give the actor the free rein, and she has to inform her son before dropping by.

During the interview, Jolie recalled when she planned to visit the apartment: “The other day I said I was going to pop by, and he was like, can you just give me a day to clean?” Laughing as she recalled the incident, Jolie said, “I thought, I appreciate that, you should clean up for your mother.” Amused at her son’s response, the actor added, “But also, how bad is it?”

The actor fosters a “family first” mindset while advocating for independence. In her 2019 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Jolie emphasized she encouraged her kids to “embrace all that they are, and all that they know in their hearts to be right.” The mother of six added that she urges them to “explore the world, including the world of ideas and expression.” Still, their NYC “crash pad” suggests that no matter where they go, there is a home they can return to.

The Oscar winner bought the apartment in her 20s, when she was rising to fame with movies like “Girl, Interrupted” and her breakthrough “Hackers.” Decades later, after establishing her successful career and a burgeoning arts hub in downtown Manhattan, the NYC apartment sits as it ever was, making a home for her six kids and dwelling in young Angelina Jolie’s memories.
