Selena Gomez recently opened up about how people’s comments on her weight made her feel a certain way. The actor recently sat for an interview on the “On Purpose Podcast” with Jay Shetty. Her fiancé, Benny Blanco, also accompanied her to the podcast episode, which was released on March 24. During their insightful conversation, Gomez went on to talk about how others’ opinions about her weight impacted her.
Selena Gomez would ‘rather be healthy’ than stress about her weight
Selena Gomez was candid about her life in the public eye during a new episode of Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose Podcast,” where she made a guest appearance with her fiancé and record producer, Benny Blanco. Addressing the topic of her weight, Gomez elaborated, “My weight’s a big one too. Everyone just has something to say, and it’s really making me sad.” The multi-hyphenated artist continued, “Not even sad ’cause you know what, no I’m not a victim.”
However, Gomez acknowledged how it made her feel “a tad bitter.” She said, “I feel really guilty for saying that, but it’s true.” Gomez then explained how she “would rather be healthy and take care” of herself, as per PEOPLE. “My medications are important, and I believe that they’re what helps me,” the singer added, referring to her weight gain due to her medication for lupus.
The podcast’s host, Jay Shetty, also mentioned the issue of mental health and body positivity and how pointing fingers at other people and judging each other can affect these important things. In response, Gomez said, “I’m just happier that I don’t have that. I had to stop after a while, and I still take breaks completely ’cause I’m human.”
Selena Gomez disclosed that most of the time, she tends to ignore these negative things. The artist said, “There are ways to combat it. I’m doing it.” She continued, “I understand the power of what social media is. It’s just tricky.”
