I’ve always thought that Teresa Giudice was a glutton for punishment. For years, fans of the Real Housewives of New Jersey watched her stay under the thumb of Joe Giudice. Personally, I’ve never thought the mother of four was dumb, but she sure as hell has made some questionable decisions over the years. After dumping Joe and dealing with their legal issues, many would have thought Tre would have learned her lessons. But somehow, Luis Ruelas had her wearing rose-colored glasses. Once again, it looks like Teresa will be paying the hefty price for her lover’s mistakes.

The gruesome twosome is in trouble. Real Housewives of New Jersey viewers were not surprised to hear that Luis was once again in trouble with the law. As previously reported by Reality Tea via the New Jersey Judiciary, Luis in fact, owes over $2.5 million in taxes to the state of New Jersey. Luis has not done well with the family money. Tre’s husband took out a $1 million loan against the couple’s mansion. He is also being sued for $300,000 due to a business venture gone wrong.
Now Tre has also found herself back under the spotlight. According to state documents, Tre owes $303,889.20 to the Garden State. It is not clear what the reason behind her debt is. But it is hard to empathize with Teresa when she has already been in trouble for this kind of thing before. As fans know, Teresa previously served an 11-month sentence in prison in 2015 for mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud. As of 2023, Tre still had $600,000 to pay back to the federal government. I have to be honest here; Tre doesn’t pick the greatest men.

It’s hard for a Real Housewives of New Jersey fan to forget that last season, a specific scene was left on the cutting room floor. When Season 14’s trailer hit social media, fans were in a tizzy. One scene shows Luis and Tre arguing about money outside their home. Specifically, something that Luis had lied about. For months rumors spread that it had to do with a fight between the couple while they vacationed in Greece. But the scene never appeared. The lack of explanation left fans wondering if there was trouble in paradise. Since filming ended, Teresa revealed that she didn’t feel her husband was ready to film a reality TV show.
But the cracks in their relationship had already started to show. The Skinny Italian author kept harping on about how she had been living in a love bubble. But supporters couldn’t help but feel that Luis might be taking advantage of her. From the start, many didn’t trust the questionable businessman. And it didn’t help that Luis had a sordid past. His exes had called him a sex addict. And he had even gotten in trouble for a road rage incident.
RHONJ fans don’t love Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas’ storyline
As a longtime Real Housewives of New Jersey fan, it was hard to watch the human blueberry play Tre like a fiddle. Their love story never really matched up. During multiple scenes, it often felt like Luis was trying to control the narrative, and Tre started to watch what she said. Both seemed to fall down the rabbit hole of tall tales. Tre and Luis have both been accused of trying to hawk fake designer goods on their social media. And let’s be honest: if you can’t trust a person to have a real Chanel, then what else are they willing to lie about?
It is still unclear whether Tre will return for the next season of the hit franchise. The verdict could go either way now. Either Bravo will once again be interested in her and Luis’ legal problems and immediately get Andy Cohen and a camera, or they will want to keep their distance from the felon and her husband. Only time will tell. But if I were close friends with Teresa, I would be telling her to run. Run far away and to the lawyer’s office, where you can get a postnup.
