Report: RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice Could Become ‘Target’ Amid Tax Debt With Luis Ruelas

By now, you’ve probably heard the news that Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas are facing some major tax problems. They owe millions, and it might only be a matter of time before The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars set up a GoFundMe.

In the meantime, some legal experts are worried about Tre’s freedom. She already went to prison once, and there are fears that her criminal past could make her a target for the federal government.

Of course, Teresa spent over a year in prison thanks to the bank fraud case brought against her husband at the time. With that in mind, The Sun spoke to an attorney named Adam Michael Sacks. He explained how that past conviction could play a role in her new husband’s tax crisis.

“The real connection is if you’re dealing with the IRS. She already committed fraud. They can say, ‘You already have a record of fraud,'” Adam explained.

Owing money is one thing, but intentionally not paying your taxes can venture into criminal territory. The attorney noted how the latest tax troubles could look less like a mistake and more like a behavioral pattern for the RHONJ star.

“You’re not supposed to evade taxes. The dumb person can get away with it, but the deliberate person who is deliberately not paying, that’s a criminal offense,” Adam the attorney continued.

He added, “These are financial claims, they can become a criminal case, but normally you would need to show bad actions, such as fraud.”

As of now, it’s worth reiterating that Luis and Teresa have not been accused of any fraud or wrongdoing. This might just be a classic case of money mismanagement. As the attorney pointed out, most workers have their taxes automatically taken out of their paychecks. When you have a less straightforward job like Tre and Luis, you’re more than likely getting pretax checks.

“It’s very common to spend all the money and not put anything aside,” the attorney explained. “At the end of the year. You owe a lot of money, a third or more and they don’t have it.”

Real Housewives of New Jersey is streaming on Peacock.
