You have to hand it to her. Teresa Giudice of Real Housewives of New Jersey always keeps her followers on their toes. Since 2009, Tre has been working hard to stay in the spotlight. She has shared every major life event, even on the series, including the birth of her fourth daughter, her time behind bars, and her divorce. A lot can be said about Tre, but most followers agree that the mother of four isn’t great at reading the room. She often storms in like a bull in a China shop, trying to make her point. She is even worse on social media, as fans found out this week when she posted a selfie in a sassy t-shirt.
Teresa Giudice was hit with a new tax lien
News spread quickly this week about Luis Ruelas and Teresas’s new financial issues. Reality Tea reported via the New Jersey Judiciary, that Luis owed over $2.5 million in taxes to the state of New Jersey. Just two weeks before the lien was slapped on them Luis took out a $1 million loan against the couple’s shared mansion. Sadly Teresa isn’t in the clear as she has also been slapped with a lien.
According to state documents, the mother of four owes the Garden State $303,889.20. The documents don’t state what her debt is in relation to, but fans can’t help feeling that she should have known better. In 2015, Tre spent 11 months behind bars after being found guilty of mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud. As of 2023, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star still had $600,000 to pay back to the federal government. Luis and Teresa have yet to speak out about their newest financial issues. But I bet Tre wishes she had filed a prenup before her 2022 wedding.
It feels like Teresa Giudice hasn’t learned from past mistakes
Amidst another round of financial issues, I can’t help but feel like Tre hasn’t exactly learned her lesson. Shortly after the news of her tax lien broke, the Skinny Italian author was on Instagram, riling her followers up. The Bravoleb sported a probable faux designer shirt in an attempt to show she was unphased by her legal issues. The black shirt listed some top-notch designer labels, including Hermes, Chanel, Dior, and Saint Laurent. The t-shirt read, “I Speak Fluent French.”
In the caption below, she wrote, “New week, fresh goals, unstoppable energy! Let’s make this Monday the start of something amazing.” Followers have called Tre out before for her love of a bad dupe. In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, Tre was called out for wearing fake Gucci and Balenciaga. At the time, viewers were appalled that Tre would try to make a buck by lying to them. Teresa has tried to promote the website DHgate, which received thousands of complaints for selling counterfeit products. Naturally, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star’s recent post left a bad taste in her followers’ mouths.
Teresa Giudice should be worried, not posting on IG
The timing of Tre’s newest post seemed off. Fans took her to her comment section to let her know about it. One follower wrote, “Teresa, I love you, but this is so tone deaf lol.” Another stated, “This lol. Not to mention the IRS talks. Eeeek.” Another comment read, “I love her too and you’re right, I can’t believe she didn’t make Luis sign a prenup.” However, one of the more ominous comments added, “3 million in tax liens doesn’t give off anything but shadows and darkness.”
Some fans reacted positively, telling Tre not to let anyone dim her light. But in this humble writer’s opinion, Teresa shouldn’t be concentrating so much on her social media. She should probably put her energy towards righting a wrong. The OG of the Garden State doesn’t seem to have learned from her past mistakes. Before this newest lien, she already owed $615,720.94 in back taxes for 2023 and 2024. She also should be worrying about Luis. Shortly before the New Year, her husband, who co-founded Vinivia, was sued for not paying the party planner, and the company later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is available to stream on Peacock.
