Jax Taylor Gives Family Update After Not Talking to Mom for ‘Six, Seven Years’

Jax Taylor has been estranged from his mother and sister for nearly a decade. The Valley star’s family even missed his 2019 wedding to Brittany Cartwright. But in the wake of all that has happened in his personal life recently, it’s fair to wonder whether anything has changed in Jax’s relationship with his family.

The Vanderpump Rules alum recently revealed that he’s working on sobriety from a long-standing cocaine addiction. It’s been a time of deep reflection and change for Jax. And perhaps also one to repair damaged relationships.

Jax Taylor reconnected with his mom and sister

During a March 26 interview with Us Weekly, Jax revealed that he’s been reaching out to his family for support. The Bravolebrity, (born Jason Cauchi) explained that he hasn’t spoken to his mother, Marie Cauchi, for many years. Marie has not met her three-year-old grandson Cruz.

“My mother reached out to me — we haven’t talked in six, seven years,” Jax said. “That was interesting. I wasn’t ready to open that up yet.”

News about Jax’s separation from Brittany would have reached his mother, and younger sister, Jenny Lynn Cauchi. He also spent time in a voluntary mental health facility over the summer. It was there that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.

Now, the Bravolebrity is happy to announce that both his mother and his sister reached out amidst the news of his cocaine battle.

“I was glad she reached out,” Jax said of communicating with his mother. “And my sister, too.” It’s a priority for Marie to meet Cruz. The Valley star shared, “I want my mother to meet her grandson — that’s my main priority.”

Jax recalled the intial falling out

The Vanderpump Rules alum gave more insight into the rift during Season 7, Episode 2. Jax shared, “I used to be very close to my mom. Everybody’s like, I love your mom. We really haven’t communicated in the last six months, pretty much since my father passed.”

“Their marriage was on the rocks; she was talking about leaving my dad about a month before he got cancer,” he continued. “Toward the end, my mom would say, ‘Oh, he’s fine.’ We didn’t know he was in ICU; I would have been there in a heartbeat if I knew he was in ICU. I mean, I get it, my mother’s trying to protect my sister and I, but I should have been able to say goodbye to my dad.”

Jax can now focus on the future with the support of his family.
