Affleck cleared up longstanding speculation and rumors surrounding their breakup, revealing to GQ, “There’s no scandal.” Addressing the subject, he also explained that he has “nothing but respect” for his ex-wife. Now, an insider has shared with PEOPLE that this was “kind of all about clearing the air one last time.”

Ben Affleck won’t speak about his divorce from Jennifer Lopez anymore. “He’s done talking about JLo,” the source confirmed to PEOPLE after announcing that he said everything he had to in his expansive cover star interview with GQ. The source further claimed that the star’s previous statement was about “clearing the air one last time” and revealed he is “not proud that their marriage didn’t work out” and that he “didn’t want to hurt her.”
However, Affleck now wants to “focus” on the other important aspects of his life, including prioritizing “his kids and work.” The source also pointed out how the dad of three “thrives when he’s busy,” highlighting his passion for work and excitement “about upcoming projects.” The actor’s forthcoming movie, “The Accountant 2,” will mark his major return to the big screen since 2023’s “Air.” The same year, he also appeared in DC Film’s “The Flash,” where he played Batman one final time.
Ben Affleck previously told GQ that his and JLo’s divorce had “no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue.” In fact, he called it “much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting.” Affleck continued that there was “no ‘So-and-so did this’ or ‘This was the big event,'” comparing their breakup to a “couple’s therapy session.”
Lopez reportedly filed for divorce from the actor last August and listed April 26, 2024, as their date of separation. The former couple only reached a settlement earlier this year.
