Kandi Burruss’ Restaurant Files Counterclaim, Backs Out of Settlement With Landlord

Despite walking away from The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2024, Kandi Burruss has continued to make headlines. Some of the buzz has been good, like her successful production of Othello on Broadway. Other news … not so much.

It was recently reported that her restaurant company Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group LLC, which she co-owns with her husband Todd Tucker, is in some hot water. Specifically, a lawsuit has been filed by the landlord of Kandi’s Blaze Steak & Seafood restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. It alleges that not only does she and Todd owe over $150,000 in back rent, but that there is an additional $57,000 needed for repairs to the property. But now, the tables have turned.

Kandi Burruss’ restaurant lawsuit rolls on

An update to the case confirms that Kandi has been dropped from the lawsuit. Whilst her restaurant group with Todd is still being sued, she is no longer personally named in the suit anymore. But wait, that’s not all.

Kandi has decided to fire back against the landlord and is officially countersuing, per The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. On behalf of the Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group, she is accusing the building owner of not upholding their side of the repair deal. While Kandi and Todd are responsible for most repairs to the property, foundational issues are an exception that falls on the landlord to fix. She alleges that due to the building’s foundation and plumbing issues, there has been extensive water damage at the restaurant.

It’s clear the reality TV icon has no plans to settle and would rather take this case head-on. As of now, it hasn’t been revealed just how much money she is seeking in her countersuit.

This isn’t the only money-related scandal their restaurant company has been involved in, though. In 2021 it was reported that the former RHOA couple owed over $5,000 in back taxes related to their restaurants.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is available to stream on Peacock.
