In a conversation with Hamilton College’s president, Steven Tepper, on April 3, the former president admitted being in a “deep deficit” with his other half. This surprising confession comes amid ongoing rumors of their divorce, which neither of them has addressed openly yet.
Adding more about how he was navigating the “deficit,” Obama said, “So I have been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things.” However, this isn’t the first time that the former president opened up about his marriage after leaving the White House.
Barack Obama served as the country’s president from 2009 to 2017, which, according to him, took a toll on his relationship with Michelle Obama. In a May 2023 interview with CBS Mornings, he said that the end of his presidency helped his marriage.
