Opinion: Kenya Moore’s RHOA Suspension Should Be Lifted

Kenya Moore has always brought the drama to the Real Housewives of Atlanta. But she entered Season 16 with a new vibe. She wasn’t going to be bothered by the opinions of newbies. Sadly, that mantra lasted all of six episodes. Once Brit Eady got under her skin, there was no turning back for the OG. What transpired was a decision to air Brit’s dirty laundry, resulting in Kenya’s firing. However, in light of recent events, many believe Kenya’s suspension should be lifted. Here’s why.

Kenya Moore is a RHOA fan favorite

What makes Kenya such a fan favorite is the simple fact that she has viewers divided. She can be as sweet as pie, yet at other times, she can twirl in like a tornado. The mother of one knows her role, and she plays it well. For years, she has been cast as the villain on RHOA. And she’s always had a foe. First, she didn’t get along with Porsha Williams. Then it was Kim Zolciak. Now it’s Brit. I’d argue that she plays the role of the villain smartly. She does a great job of balancing her mean-girl antics and making people feel empathy for her.

Kenya has also shown multiple sides of her life over the years. Fans have watched her go through some major life changes. This includes her toxic relationship with Matt, starting her own business, marrying Marc Daly, and finally, becoming a mother. Not every Housewife has been as open as Kenya, and fans often reward her for her honest storylines.

Kenya Moore has taken responsibility for her Brit Eady photo scandal on RHOA

On the latest episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, fans finally got to see the moment that Kenya revealed sexually explicit photos of Brit while at her hair spa event. The final photo upset the entire room as it allegedly featured an image of Brit performing oral sex. The rest of the cast was disgusted and left the event. Cynthia Bailey noted, “I really hate that you let that end this way. I think you’re bigger than that.” Bravo displayed a message at the end of the episode saying, “Based on Kenya’s behavior, the decision was made to cease filming with her this season.” It’s been rumored that Kenya was livid with her pause and felt she had been treated unfairly.

However, Kenya appeared on the Tamra Hall show to take responsibility for her actions. The mother of one told the host, “Hindsight is always 50-50. If I could do it all over again, I believe the photos were very distasteful, and I elevated the situation. I’ve elevated situations before, and I’ve taken full accountability for the things that I’ve done.” She went on to say, “I am sorry for what I’ve done. I didn’t have to take it that fa, but when I feel threatened — I’ve never had a child and be in a situation like this before, so that’s why I escalated it to the point that I was protecting not only myself but my child.”

Brit Eady got to stay on RHOA, so why not Kenya Moore?

It is important to note that Kenya didn’t start the beef. During the episode, Brit lost her temper after the beauty queen noted, “Peasants cannot come for a queen.” The insurance agent blew up over dinner in the vault, leaving the rest of the women puzzled. Kenya didn’t engage as she usually would and walked away from the dinner table. In everyone’s eyes, the fight was over. But Brit kept at it. Bravo cameras caught her saying, “let that b*tch know. I don’t play them games! I got whip, motherf*cking pistols, everything!” She then noted, “I mean, I still got my pistol so.” The altercation was anything but okay.

The argument can be made that if Brit gets to stay on the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kenya should also be allowed back. Many fans support this notion and have commented that they felt like they watched the finale since Kenya is now gone. I don’t feel like Bravo can cherry-pick whose behavior should be tolerated. Either both should have been axed, or both should have been put on pause and then allowed back.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is available to stream on Peacock.
