‘Source’ hints there’s ‘bad blood’ between Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood
Taylor Swift’s feud with Carrie Underwood reignited in January 2025 during the latter’s performance at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. As per Daily Mail‘s sources, the controversial performance was meant to target Swift.
According to the website, people close to Swift feel that Carrie took the Trump inauguration gig to spite Taylor. It claimed that the two had ”a little bad blood in the past” and Swift endorsed Kamala Harris. Daily Mail further explained, “Some people in the industry do think this is Carrie’s way of marking her territory as ‘Miss Americana’ as her side of the political aisle won the election.”
Recently, Underwood took a dig at Swift on American Idol, describing a contestant as having “Taylor Swift-esque quality.” The sources explained that Underwood has been looking for a chance to throw subtle shade at Swift, but it did not appear so. The insider also added that comparing the girl to Swift was not required. A source close to the singer mentioned that she did not like Swift abandoning country music for pop.
Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood’s rocky history dates back years. The latter has thrown shade at Swift on multiple award shows, from her dating life to her political opinions. Additionally, Underwood and Brad Paisley performed a skit mocking Swift’s connection to the Kennedy family. However, Swift gave a subtle response, “[The cameras] don’t pan to you if you’re not laughing.”
In 2015, Underwood took a dig at Swift’s famous squad, calling her friends “normal people”. Previously, the singer dismissed comparisons between them at a radio interview, stating, “I’m a little bit older than she is and I feel like our music is completely different and if anyone tries to make any comparisons they really haven’t listened to either one of us.”
