No one was all that surprised when The Valley star Brittany Cartwright left her husband Jax Taylor in February 2024. In fact, many fans of the show were wondering what took her so long.
Jax had allegedly treated his wife of nearly five years poorly. He criticized her weight; he nagged her about her drinking. So when she finally took their son and moved into a nearby rental, it made sense.
But in a sneak peek for The Valley Season 2, we’re learning more details from the couple themselves. At one point, they agreed to try to work on their marriage and possibly reconcile. In the meantime, Jax found some messages his wife had been exchanging with another man, including a “sexy video.” That’s when, according to Brit, “All hell broke loose.”

“I come home and [Jax] was on my iPad,” Brittany tells friend and castmate Michelle Lally. “My text messages were on there, the guy that I was talking to. He went through and read ’em all. I’d sent, like, a sexy video, and Jax saw it. I mean, we were separated. Whatever.” This would have been Jax’s friend Julien Sensley, with whom Brittany confided and had a secret fling following their separation.
Despite their separation, Jax and Brit still continued to co-parent their three-year-old son Cruz. They were still doing their joint podcast, When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany.
“I thought we might be heading in the right direction and be able to work on our marriage,” she said. “And then all hell broke loose. That completely changed everything.”
“He flipped the coffee table, and it, like, hit my knee,” Brit continues. “It turns black immediately … I’m, like, screaming [and] crying. It was terrifying.”
“You’re cheating on me!” Jax yelled. “You’re still talking to him!”
“By the way,” Michelle mentions, “you guys both had an agreement that you could do whatever you want.”
“We were separated,” Brittany agrees. “He’s been hooking up with girls. He’s been publicly parading himself around with girls.”
Jax Taylor describes his fight with Brittany Cartwright: “I went full f*cking unhinged rage”

Meanwhile, Jax is talking to his buddy Jesse Lally, Michelle’s estranged husband. “She was planning on moving back into my home,” the Vanderpump Rules alum says, “but yet sending inappropriate messages. Like, what?”
“Put yourself in my shoes. What would you do?” Jax asks Jesse. “Yeah, you probably would be mad. You probably wouldn’t throw things.”
“Cause you have no emotional regulation,” Jesse adds. Bingo!
“We did say we could hook up with other people,” Jax says in a confessional. “That was part of the deal. But a friend?! Come on.”
“Yeah, I went full f*cking unhinged rage,” Jax continues. “It was bad. I’ve gotten, like, angry before, but that’s the worst it’s ever got.”
Jax is just grateful that Cruz was in the other room and didn’t witness this disturbing incident.
The Valley Season 2 premieres April 15 at 9/8c on Bravo.
