There’s a new cast of SURvers getting ready to make their Bravo debut, and Tom Schwartz has some words of advice. The Vanderpump Rules alum recently warned the Season 12 crew that if it comes down to it, never name a bar after yourself. Just don’t do it.

The new cast of VPR are eager for advice as they begin their reality TV careers. Supposedly, one of them even reached out to Scheana Shay looking for tips. Thoughts and prayers for whoever was on the other end of that conversation.
Since filming has commenced for Season 12, Extra asked Tom if he had any advice for the new cast. That’s when he made the joke about his failed bar and the naming convention that might have sunk the ship.
Famously, Tom opened Schwartz & Sandy’s along with his buddy Tom Sandoval. VPR followed the launch, which turned into a huge money pit. Last year, the Toms announced that they were closing the business.
Although the bar industry can be brutal, the Toms took a major hit when Scandoval exploded. People weren’t necessarily lining up to support them. With that in mind, Schwartz joked in a recent interview with Extra that the Season 12 VPR cast should learn from his mistakes.
“Don’t put your name on the side of a bar EVER, ever,” he told the outlet.
On a more serious note, Tom shared some words of support for his successors. Although he admitted that they have some “big shoes to fill,” he’s confident that the Pump Rules reboot will be a hit.
“I think it’s going to be great,” Tom predicted.
