Following a to-be-continued pause, we are back with our Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 11 recap. “The Shots You Don’t Take” picks up where last week left off, showcasing the aftermath of a fight between Wihan and Harry, Wihan and Johnny, Wihan and Lara, and Wihan and the entire viewing audience in general. Captain Jason now has to intervene, which means plane tickets home are coming. But will this crew react kindly to their newest hires, or can we expect to find additional drama on the horizon? Here is a breakdown of everything that transpired on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 11.

What happened in Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Episode 11?

Captain Jason fires Wihan and Johnny. Meanwhile, tensions are rising between Lara and Tzarina. Nevertheless, the crew does their best to move forward as two new crew members come on board, shifting their dynamics. But one new hire messes up badly on his first day of work, which might result in another early exit this season on BDDU.

Captain Jason sends Johnny away for a night, bringing him back in the morning for his firing

Captain Jason fears he has a loose cannon on board, so he sends Johnny to a hotel for the night. They will “chat about it in the morning,” Captain Jason remarks. “Yes, sir,” Johnny answers.

Growing concerned for her beau, a “gutted” Alesia calls Wihan, who labels Johnny “crazy.” Everyone then heads to bed, shaken by these events. In the morning, Captain Jason meets with Lara, who explains that Alesia accidentally crawled into bed with Wihan, thinking he was Johnny. Captain Jason brings Alesia to the wheelhouse, telling her she did nothing wrong.

Correct. But Wihan did. He knew Alesia was looking for Johnny. But instead of correcting her bed-crawling antics, Wihan hugged Alesia tightly, relishing his wrong fantasy about being a magnet for all ladies.

Not shockingly, Wihan retells this narrative to Adair differently, trying to say he thought Alesia wanted him, not Johnny. This man is stressful AF. Own something, Wihan. ANYTHING, please.

Then, Lara tells Captain Jason that Wihan also messed with Harry. Captain Jason heads off to interview Harry and then Tzarina. Both equally blame Wihan, not Johnny. Wihan enters the galley, blaming everyone but himself, as Johnny reboards to chat with Captain Jason.

Johnny gets the boot, a fate that he understands and respects. Before his exit, he makes peace with a “heartbroken” Alesia.

Captain Jason calls Wihan to the bridge for another firing

After seeing Johnny off the yacht, Captain Jason calls Wihan to the bridge. Once seated, Captain Jason tells Wihan he had several enlightening conversations that morning with other yachties. Shockingly confused, Wihan launches into a monologue about how helpful and positive he always is, so anyone who speaks poorly is mistaken. Thankfully, Captain Jason interjects, telling Wihan that changes need to happen.

Captain Jason fires Wihan. In his confessional, Wihan again stresses that he did his best, so if anyone is unappreciative, “so be it.” In her interview, Adair acknowledges that Wihan was the problem all along.

Captain Jason calls for the crew to meet in the main salon. He informs them that Johnny and Wihan are gone, and their replacements will follow. Then, they board their vans and head out for a fun day to unwind following this double-firing mess.

At a turtle sanctuary, the crew gushes over baby turtles while Captain Jason arranges for a new deckhand and bosun to arrive by the following morning. He leaves afterward, allowing his crew members time to unwind at a nearby beach.

Tensions mount in the galley as Nate Salmon and Nicolas Cattelan come on board

Harry snags an invite to the preference sheet meeting the following morning. The guests want a mob wives-themed party, which excites Lara and Tzarina. These girls are also excited about their new approaching male crew members. Bosun Nate Salmon arrives first, and he seems chill and competent, which we love.

Deckhand Nicolas Cattelan arrives second. He is green, but Captain Jason is not scared. Following a few Star Trek comparisons regarding his new yacht, we are not afraid either. We like both men (so far).

Alesia is still grieving Johnny. Her head is not in the game, and her hands are on her phone, texting her departed man. Tzarina kindly clocks this as Lara enters, hugging Alesia.

Lara makes a Brady Bunch joke, which Marina fails to understand. Lara explains this old sitcom, describing one of the sisters as a “bit quirky, like Tzarina.” Tzarina overhears, sighing. She then explains that she always wanted to be popular, as the cutest childhood images ever flash by.

Tzarina was hoping she and Lara might bond. But this wish is now slowly dying.

The new and improved deck team is off to a solid start, but drama still exists in the interior department

As the crew prepares for their next charter, Nate is already on the case, helping in the interior like Wihan could never. The all-girls charter arrives at the yacht as the new deck team smoothly guides the vessel away from the dock.

Captain Jason approaches Marina, who jokes with him about his missing socks. Finally, Marina’s humor lands with her boss. Captain Jason finds Lara next, asking her to give Marina a shot at service. Lara says yes, but in her interview, she admits she needs to play her “best cards,” which is not always Marina.

The guests enjoy water toys as Nicolas waves them off, joking under his breath that they cannot see his efforts. As they head off to shower and get ready for dinner, the crew prepares for their mob wives-themed dinner. But Lara does not like the dishes Tzarina chose. They get into a small tit-for-tat as a giggly Nicolas overhears while walking to his cabin.

Despite the plates’ debacle, their unaware guests love their dinner. However, while serving, Lara and Tzarina get into another verbal scuffle over timing, which Captain Jason overhears. Things might get ugly soon, but we will hold out hope that we are wrong.

On deck, Nicolas entertains their guests with drinking games. He is awkward, he candidly notes. But when a guest orders him to take a shot, he complies, which Bri sees. Bri pulls Nicolas in, quietly letting him know of his error.

Nicolas is mad at himself. He is telling on himself tomorrow, he reveals. Hey, at least he’s accountable.

Below Deck Down Under continues Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo.
