Season 1 of The Valley showed us Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s marriage falling apart in real-time. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019 and share one son, announced their separation in February 2024. That news dropped just ahead of The Valley’s debut in March. If anyone thought that reports of the duo’s separation were a ratings stunt, watching the series put the “real” in reality.
Meanwhile, during their separation, Brittany decided to have a fling with one of Jax’s friends, Julian Sensley. After all, Brittany was coming out of a five-year marriage and was in her single era. Why shouldn’t she have fun?
As expected, someone named Jax was not happy about this development. This situation caused a great deal of drama, which will no doubt be chronicled on The Valley Season 2. While Julian and Brittany’s fling may not have lasted long, it certainly caused some fireworks. So, who is Julian, Brittany’s fling partner and Jax’s ex-friend?
Who is Julian Sensley, the man that Brittany Cartwright had a fling with?
First off, we know that Julian has game. He was 6-foot-9 when he was a senior in high school. Next, Julian played college basketball for Hawaiian Athletics. ESPN called Julian the “greatest player ever produced in the Islands.” His nickname was “The Jewel.”
Later on, he played for an NBA G League team affiliated with the Houston Rockets called the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The team’s home base was Edinburg, Texas. Unfortunately, he wasn’t drafted during the 2006 NBA draft, and his dreams of an NBA career were dashed.
So, Julian turned his focus to acting. According to IMDb, in 2021, he landed a guest-starring role on Magnum P.I. From there, he landed roles on Rescue: Hi-Surf, East New York, Time Pirates, and NCIS: Hawaii.
As for how Julian landed in the friend group? He used to work the door at TomTom. Plus, not only was Julian friends with Jax, but he dated Lala Kent. And she introduced Brittany to Julian, which is a move that she apparently regrets.
“I introduced him, this Julian person, into the group, and I feel horrible that he has caused such a ruckus,” Lala previously explained. And when Jax discovered that Brittany and Julian were spending time together, Lala told him what was up.

So, how does Brittany feel about her brief fling with Julian now that the relationship is over? She has zero regrets. Brittany was a guest on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast and explained why she ended up with Julian.
“I wasn’t trying to go after one of his friends. That’s not how it happened,” Brittany explained. However, Julian “was somebody that [she] felt [she] knew,” and she “always thought he was so hot.”
She continued, “I was just so mad at Jax. I didn’t care if I hurt his feelings like that. He never cared about how he hurt my feelings for years.” Amen, girl! “He did so much to me that, I’m sorry you’re so upset about who it is, but at the same time, you didn’t give me attention, affection or anything for years,” Brittany added.
Plus, back in Brittany and Jax’s time on Vanderpump Rules, Jax hooked up with Brittany’s friend, Faith Stowers. Yet, Brittany eventually took him back and ended up marrying him at the magical Kentucky Castle. So, really, Jax is just on the receiving end of what he dished out.
“So, I was like, you know what? This guy is really hot, and I was taking care of myself, and Jax has no legs to stand on,” The Valley star added of her fling with Julian.
How did The Valley star Jax Taylor react to Brittany’s fling with Julian?
Brittany filed for divorce from Jax in August 2024. After The Valley Season 1 finale, Jax hopped on Twitter and asked, “You may want to ask Brittany who she’s been sleeping with for the past 4 months …” He later deleted the tweet.
So, how did Jax find out about Brittany and Julian’s relationship? “I saw it on her phone. We were sitting in my house, and her phone was on the coffee table, and a message popped up,” Jax stated. “I looked at it, and it was a message from Julian. But it was at night, and it was just a very weird message.”
He continued, “I called her on it, and I caught her in a couple of lies. And then I got it out of her.” Jax added, “I’ve done my fair share of things, and maybe it’s karma. But man, I definitely got a taste of my own medicine for sure.” Indeed.
According to Jax, he and Brittany had discussed reconciling. However, when he learned that Brittany was still in contact with Julian, he had a meltdown of sorts. “I kind of had an out-of-body experience. I’m not going to lie to you. I went crazy,” Jax said. “I threw furniture. Thank God my son was upstairs.” He added that two days later, he was admitted to a rehab center.
Unfortunately, this incident was documented in The Valley Season 2 premiere. A furious Jax flipped over a coffee table, which hit Brittany in the leg. And Brittany’s leg started to bruise immediately. Now, Jax has been open about his struggles with cocaine addiction, and after two rehab stints, he is reportedly sober. He has also struggled with mental health issues.
However, watching this scene was disturbing, and there is no excuse for it. I hope that Jax continues with his sobriety and that Brittany and Jax can find a way to peacefully co-parent their son, Cruz Cauchi.
