Who would have ever thought that Kristen Doute would be one of two left standing from the group of SUR employees? I certainly did not have that on my Bravo bingo card. But here we are, after the premiere of The Valley Season 2, and Kristen has already brought the heat. So, excuse me if I don’t like the idea of Kristen relocating out of state. This would leave a huge hole in the cast and with big shoes to fill, Kristen’s presence and pot-stirring would surely be missed.
Kristen Doute is the rock of The Valley
After dissecting and rewatching Season 1, I have concluded that Kristen is the glue that has held this group together. God knows Jax Taylor wasn’t the one organizing get-togethers. Now, I’m not saying Kristen was drama-free. On the contrary, she brought multiple storylines to Season 1. She fought with basically everyone, including her boyfriend, Luke Broderick. But somehow Kristen had the proof, receipts, and the timeline when it came to calling out her friends.
The former model was right all along about Michelle Lally having a secret boyfriend. Kristen was also spot-on when it came to Janet Caperna. This could be because she had so much time with Stassi Schroeder back in the day that she learned how to spot a mean girl from a mile away. Say what you want about Kristen, but she has a certain je ne sais quoi when it comes to sharing her life on reality TV. She often says what she wants in the cringiest of ways. But I stan for it and she can not be allowed to leave The Valley. Put up a blockade for all I care; just don’t let this gem leave us!
Who could replace Kristen Doute on The Valley?
If I am going to be forced to think about a replacement for Kristen, I honestly don’t feel like any of the former Vanderpump Rules stars should join. Their show is being paused and recast for a reason, as many viewers grew tired of their storylines. Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney are onto their own ventures, away from reality TV. Both Toms are definitely not fan favorites as of now. So that leaves Lala Kent and Scheana Shay. As Ariana Grande once sang, “Thank U, next.” There is not one ounce of me that wants to see either woman on The Valley. Both are try-hards with not the most exciting storylines.
So, if Kristen does choose to pack up her bags for the cleaner, less polluted air of Colorado, a newbie would have to be cast. I think Brittany Cartwright did well in helping cast her friend, Zack Wickham. But I’m curious about what would happen if Jesse Lally got a true ally in with him. I know he is polarizing, but there is something about Jesse that I just love to watch! And I just know it would rile Michelle up to no end, which in turn would make for some great episodes.
It might be good for Kristen Doute to change scenes
As much as I hate to admit it, the move to Colorado might be exactly what Kristen needs. She is all about the next phase of her life, which includes marriage and a baby. And frankly, LA is a rough place to thrive. The city is a mix of actors, models, and industry insiders who wouldn’t know how to make a real connection if they tried. And Kristen needs more than a fake Mommy and Me group to join.
While talking to Entertainment Tonight, the couple dropped a bomb on viewers who were just getting their popcorn ready for the premiere. When asked if LA would become their permanent home, Luke replied, “It is for the short term. I don’t know that I’ll ever call it home, but it is where we are for the time being.” Kristen added, “Yeah, home is just wherever we are. It’s not our permanent home.” If not Colorado, the duo own a piece of land in Indiana that they could build on. But for now, they are concentrating on their baby girl with no direct plans to move immediately.
The Valley is available to stream on Peacock.
