Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner Gives Incurable Cancer Update

Cancer sucks, but every once and a whlle, the doctors will come through with an update that isn’t completely terrible. That seems to be the case for Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner. Last year, the 73-year-old announced he had been diagnosed with a rare bone marrow cancer. There’s no cure, but his medical team recently gave him a glimmer of hope for his ongoing journey.

Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner say doctors gave a positive update on his cancer battle

Gerry publicly revealed his diagnosis in December 2024. At the time, he said that the slow-growing cancer played a major role in his divorce from Theresa Nist. They tied the knot on television just two months before he learned of his condition. Building a new life together became less of a priority.

“When you are hit with that kind of news and the shock wears off after a few days or a few weeks and you regroup and you realize what’s important to you, that’s where you start to move forward,” Gerry explained at the time.

Although there is no cure for Gerry’s cancer, he shared a positive health update during a recent episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. He said he’s currently feeling really good, and his doctors expect him to be around for another two years. That’s something to celebrate.

“I feel great. Until I have any symptoms, there’s no treatment. So I go frequently for blood tests,” Gerry explained.

“I’m on a six-month schedule now, and I feel optimistic because the doctor has said, ‘Well, when you turn 75, we’re going to have to do three-month increments,’” he continued. “So it’s telling me that at least he expects me to live another couple of years to get to that. But the bottom line is I feel really good.”

The Golden Bachelor is streaming on Hulu.
