For years, Meri Brown of Sister Wives has played the dutiful role of wife number one to Kody Brown. She stood by his side and baked him 33 Rice Krispies treats even when it was painfully obvious he was no longer in love with her. Finally, after years being shut down, Meri is getting the chance to say her peace, and she’s doing it with Tamron Hall.
Tamron Hall shares she was fired from Sister Wives reunion job
The number one complaint from Sister Wives fans is that the current host of the tell-all goes easy on Kody. Viewers rarely see the father of 18 held accountable. And there turns out to be a good reason for that. Tamron hosted the reunion from 2013 to 2017, and she was too good at her job. So much so, she made some of the TLC stars quite uncomfortable. The TV host revealed that some Brown family members found her line of questions “too tough.” She shared, “I, like millions of viewers, watched the family grow and change over time. Kody took a fourth wife, Robyn Brown, children were adopted and born, and then came the 18th child, and as we watched, they fought to try to overturn even Utah’s plural marriage laws … We also witnessed the family fall apart.”
Tamron then told a stunned audience “I will be honest with you, I was told not to come back because some people thought that the questions were too tough that I was asking.” And even though Tamron didn’t call out the perpetrators by name, she did share a clip from a tell-all she hosted where she questioned if Kody had “legitimized one wife” over the others by marrying Robyn. Kody’s fourth wife shared in that moment that she was offended by the line of questioning. Tamron answered an age-old question that fans were already pretty sure of, but it was good to hear it from the host’s mouth.
Tamron Hall shares that she has respect for Meri Brown
Shortly before Meri walked on stage, Tamron revealed that she didn’t want the hosting job at first, noting that she had said yes for the paycheck. Meri hugged the host and told her, “I always felt like I had a really cool connection with you. And I never had any issues with you,” Meri said. Tamron then asked, “You’re blaming the other wives?” Meri responded, “Oh, 100 percent!” But Meri did show her support for the former tell-all host.
She told the audience, “I know that there are people in the family who struggled with your wanting to hold them accountable, which is why they didn’t [want you to host anymore]. But that’s what you do! You hold people accountable, and when people don’t want to be held accountable, they kick you out of the club.” Meri was happy to open up about her current relationship with the rest of the family. She noted, “I’m not a sister wife. Some are a little more interactive than others.” Meri skirted the hard-hitting questions. But Tamron cut to the chase, noting that when she was on set, it felt like the tension was between Meri and Robyn.
Meri Brown does blame Robyn Brown for the disastrous family bond
Meri seemed taken aback by the observation. But Tamron persisted, saying, “I felt like when I’d ask certain things you’d look at Kody and she was … so was I wrong?” Surprisingly, Meri stated, “No, you’re not wrong.” According to Meri, her current relationship with Robyn is “we talk when we need to. You’re going to see a little bit of those conversations kind of play out.” The conversation quickly moved to Meri’s termination of the marriage. She shared that the hardest part was when she legally divorced Kody, revealing she wasn’t in a good place.
Coyote Pass is a significant source of contention, with Meri telling Tamron, “I’m a fighter. I will fight for what I deserve” when asked if she was being cut out of the deal. As for Kody, their relationship is “non-existent. To be honest with you, I’m dealing with a lot of grief. Not over the marriage. I’m done with that. I’m dealing with grief that our divorce couldn’t even be what I was hoping for it to be. That we could be kind to each other.” Frankly, this is the most Meri has opened up about her interpersonal relationship. Now fans need to tune in for the second half of Sister Wives Season 19.
Sister Wives is available to stream on TLC.
