It’s no secret that Scandoval doomed Vanderpump Rules. Amid the fallout, the cast could not bridge their differences. Of course, that made filming Season 12 impossible. So, Pump Rules received the reboot treatment. And one former cast member, Katie Maloney, isn’t happy about the brand-new VPR.
Katie Maloney says the Vanderpump Rules Season 12 reboot “feels cheap”
Vanderpump Rules executive producer, Alex Baskin, teased the upcoming season with the new cast. “It’ll be all the things that the audience loved about [VPR] in the first place. It’ll be messy and just a fun ride,” Alex stated. Once again, the show will follow a group of friends who work at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant, SUR.
Recently, Katie joined her ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, for his new podcast, Detox Retox. And they discussed the rebooted Season 12 of Pump Rules. “This isn’t against any of [the new cast]. I don’t know them, but it just feels cheap to me,” Katie stated. “It feels cheap and I don’t like cheap.” Tell us how you really feel!
She continued, “With the same name [but] different show. There’s not even a Season 1.” Katie added, “To me, it just feels like it’s going to try to have the same flavor and the same everything.”
However, Katie had no plans to return to the show before the reboot was announced. ”Maybe it doesn’t matter at this point, but I had made a decision months ago after this past season,” Katie previously said. “I mean, I just needed to move on with my life. And this is before we knew the show was gonna be put on pause, before any of that.”
As for Katie and Tom’s relationship today? Well, the former Bubbas are hardly best friends. “We’re cool,” she explained previously. “But like, we don’t get lunch.” I’m a little sad that this duo didn’t remain friends.
